It lead me on a hunt to see if I actually typed it out or just thought it. Then I ran across the Nevrmore is gone thread and had an attack of the feels.

Praise Dominic! Mentor of our savior!

I swear, this whole story has got to be some Ash-Ketchum-in-a-coma fantasy. I imagine that after Storm of Souls, Dominic was knocked into a vegetative state and put on magical life support. Everything that follows has been his mind creating a fantasy world for him to live in.

I knew going into a 16 hour coma last night would be a better choice than waiting till the new one came out. The sweet bliss of unconciousness. Where my mind pulls out better strips out of it's ass than Mookie can on his own. And he calls himself a writer.

Now I'm picturing those other-dimensional guys - what's their species called again? - as the eagles from The Lord of the Rings. They probably could have helped immensely with the final battle, but they didn't bother for some reason. Nevertheless, they're ready to jump in and save the day when the hero has to be whisked back to his comrades. Add some lava and start calling Bort Gamgee and you've got a nice parallel.

Celesto: Is perfectly healthy, stands in the wrong place at the wrong time, mere body positioning determines his fate.

Dominic: Is impaled, his own organs are utilized as a weapon, a series of convoluted Deus Ex Machinas saves him.

I think the worst part about this writing is how its lack of any internal consistency makes it so obvious that Mookie's writing the ending he wants, as opposed to an ending that's rational or sensible or deserved by the actions or behaviors of the characters.

Can you imagine if George R.R. Martin wrote that way? "A Song of Ice and Fire" would be a goddamn fairy tale.
Fortunately, most authors know what good writing looks like. Mookie could be hit by a thousand hardcovers and still never understand the concepts.

I really hope one or both of them have to sacrifice themselves to save Dominic.

There's a phrase that comes to mind: Kill Your Darlings. It means to do whatever it takes for a good story. Mookie hasn't heard this phrase or he just doesn't care. Sure, you don't have to actually kill your characters for a good story, but you must not be afraid to make a sacrifice out of your characters to get good reading. I should have expected this when he drug Sigfried through the mud because he just couldn't do anything drastic with Luna, his masturbation fantasy who's story had come to a satisfying end.

I agree with you. You do not have to kill people to have a good story...

HOWEVER, you DO have to kill SOME characters off when you have a cast of 50+ of them and you are in a setting where they are constantly beam fighting and in constant danger. You cannot establish danger without there being consequences of fighting.

There's a wrestling phrase that comes to mind: "Sell for the Heel". It means establish the bad guy in the match as a threat so when the good guy starts to make the impossible comeback it MEANS something. If the bad guy can't possibly beat the good guy, there's no drama, is there?

There's also another wrestling term that fits this. Ring Psychology. Ring Psychology is a very simple thing, it's understanding the story that's going on in the match. Every bump, every move is supposed to tell a cohesive story. The heel cheats and is threatening. The face get's beat up and finds inner strength from himself or from the crowd. If a person uses a submission hold he attacks the part to weaken it. Everything is not wasted effort, it all tells a story whether it be a 10 minute crush of a jobber, or an hour long hard fought iron man match.

See, even in the most basic of men's soap operas (which I love watching), they understand that structure is important to good story telling. And there have been some STINKERS of ideas. I'm looking at the Gobbeldy Gooker a human size wrestling turkey that hatched out of a shell. Why can't Mookie figure out the basic story telling principles?

I dunno...if you want a stinker of an idea...two words. Katie Vick.

...ok, two more. Hand birth.

Don't forget Beaver Cleavage. Leave it to Beaver the PORN! That and Vince has been wanting to use an incest angle with his own real life daughter. Sadly, these are still all better ideas than Mookie has had in years.

Dominic Deegan is the equivalent to the swansong days of WCW. Ideas not followed up on, things didn't make sense, Vince Russo is inexplicably world champion, Rick Steiner is arguing with Chuckie, and people are getting hit with white limos left and right.

Just think of Mookie's news posts as Tony Schiovane screaming "THIS IS WHERE THE BIG BOYS PLAY!" into the mic every six seconds.

I could see Dominic being played by David Arquette. I wouldn't be shocked to see him hold up a championship belt for doing nothing too. All except for the fact that Dominic would be on board with the idea and Arquette was against it from the start.
