Now that's not true at all.

Klo Tark has died SEVERAL times already!

That totally counts!

Stupidity has its own infinite continuum, from bordering on the brain dead to just shy of normal.

All they need is go to the local stop and chop and buy another phoenix down. They got like a gazillion of them.

I know it's a Mookie attempt at suspense, so that overrides concerns about writing. But seriously, who interrupts someone who asks "Is she... " before hearing if the person is asking whether they're alive or dead? "Is she...?" "Yes." "Oh, thank god! I thought we were too late. I don't know what I would do if she had been dead!" "Oh, no, sorry. I didn't mean she was alive! Now I feel just terrible!"

Bah. C'mon, kill off a character already. Have the extra-dimensional whatever Nimmel's in suddenly collapse and eat him or something.

Maybe the comic will ultimately conclude with the whole world imploding. Then everybody will die. Would that count as a happy ending?

Nimmel will escape. The woman will be absolutely fine. No one will be hurt or learn a goddamn thing from any of this. Not even the eye monster will be effected.

Also, if people ask about the health status of someone they care about in a hesitant manner like that, they expect the worst outcome or they wouldn't be hesitating. So, "Is she..." would naturally be followed by "...dead?", which is how Jayden would instinctively interpret the question. So she indeed confirmed Katya's death.

Not that it matters, because Mookie will just ignore anything said in this strip and proceed with the story in whatever way pleases him. I don't even think the character should be considered dead or alive because of Mookie's tendency to come up with central plot elements while he draws the comics - it's more of a "Schroedinger's cat" situation where the author himself hasn't bothered to look into the box.

I'd be more pissed if he killed her off though, as she would just be a sacrificial pawn, the most expendable character in this situation. Imagine this with Jayden, Danovich, Nimmel and the wolfgirl:

"Humans, eh? Think they're lords of creation. Not like us cats. We know we are. Ever see a cat feed a human? Case proven."
