I love how the super omnipotent badass creature Mookie is trying to present us can't think of any other attack (Or at least Mookie can't) than DBZ style BEAMMMMSSS!!!!!!!

And Wolf-face there can't do anything other than summon that weak looking fingernail shaped shield that doesn't even seem like it'd be blocking all of that, considering it's overflowing and coming from multiple sides.

Also, that one chick is 'dead' and Milov and Jayden don't seem to give a fuck at all.


Also, shields crack like glass. Makes sense to me.

The shield cracking like glass I can approve of. I have seen in several times in different forms of media shields and barriers cracking like glass before shattering. So I will give Mookie 1 point for doing something right. Too bad it still leaves him in the negatives.

You've seen it in several media? What does that have to do with anything? Is this a joke? I don't see how drawing on other media is a plus. Not saying it's a negative either, but what should it matter how other media construct their world and magic? It wouldn't be "wrong" to have the shield crack like glass if it weren't done in other media. It would just be what he did.

Well, by having cracks form in the barrier it does give the reader a cue of what's happening instead of the standard Mookie "style" of WORDS WORDS WORDS.

And I say the newspost shows us what's really bleak. Supergreg vs Snowsong going forward still. We know Katya isn't going to die and that Milov and Jayden will escape. There's no dramatic tension to be bleak. Now one of Mookie's worst ideas ever still being worked on? That's bleak.

The only excuse I can conjure for eye beam attacks and nothing else is that the archmage reminds me of a DnD Beholder. They're big on eye beams. Even that's kind of a limp excuse, tho, 'cause beholder beams all do something different. Only difference between this dude and most other offensive casters in the strip is a power level over 9,000.

That's the thing though. Could this eye creature have beam attacks? Sure. But EVERY fucking person in this comic can do beam attacks. All the different schools and practices of magic have a standard beam attack and not really a whole fucking lot else. Physic? Beam Attack. Eye Monster? Beam attack. Etc, etc.

It's better he draws on a method that actually has worked in the past for others than try and make something new and original and likely completely stupid that be a painful even trying to figure out why he did it like that.

I don't mind the cracks either. Sure, he could have showed it in other ways. Maybe the field could dim, thin, fray, or whatever, but cracks work well enough for me. It makes it clear that the shield was in immediate danger of falling, which was sorta important there.

I'd have liked to see something different than beams, beams and more beams, though.
