Anyone seen Patch Together?

Has anyone here heard of Patch Together? (http://www.patchtogether.com) It's this site where you can send in custom designs for figurines, and if they get upvoted enough the site will produce them. The creator gets paid for every one they sell.

Why do you care? Because you want a Zebra Girl figurine, don't you? I do. And this is a way to make that a wonderful reality. All we have to do is make Joe submit a design, and then we powervote until they make it!

Maybe Joe will do it if we hold his pet hamster for ransom? :shifty:

Or maybe he'll do it without coercion like Paul Taylor did? :D

(Then again - I wish that statues of Monica and Dietzel would finally ship...)

Eh - in other words, I'm all for it...

I'd buy it. Even moreso I'd be in favor of one of the male characters, like Jack or BS. That would be so badass.

How big are those things, what materials do they use and how detailed would a ZG model be? I mean, will be be like a detailed model, or more like a simplistic toy? I'm hoping for detail. I know I'd buy that for a dolla' (maybe even many dolla').

Well, this figure was 44.99 USD + 13.60 USD shipping to Europe. (Though it hasn't shipped yet...)

Here and here are design-in-progress shots; IIRC it's 9 inches high...

As for cost - they're doing those things on demand, so they're producing a certain number of them and then they're gone; IIRC the artist doesn't have to pay anything, but you'll have to get enough votes on your design for them to start designing a figure, and then you'll need enough pre-orders for actual production to start.

Sandra with wings spread, light on the shirt and pants, with angry face on..would be good. Claws at the ready with hints of the purple at the proper places. Damn, it would make a good statuette. :D

Damn right it would. I'd also be down for a Doyenne figure for her to fight with; I liked Doyenne a lot. An epic fight between them would look great on my shelf of action figures.

After inspecting their website...It seems these guys make figurines, not action figures. While figurines are all well and good (I'd appreciate a good statue of early-era Sandra on my desk,) I'd prefer a jointed action figure. You know, the cheesy kind they churn out for movies and stuff.

Which would you guys prefer?

What is that material that is very hard, usually white, that they make statuettes out of? Is it called resin? I'd like about an 8 inch statue of Sandra, poised to jump into somebody's business..wings out, angry face (teeth showing) with some complete guide for painting, if it doesn't come that complete. What a thing to roam your shelves!(Yeah..big price tag, too) Ah, well. They built a car that only existed in a video game, how hard could this be?

Pre-painted would be severely cool. (You would have to check from time to time to make sure she hasn't moved by herself on the shelf.) :D

I dunno...

I might be the only one against this, but I'm not sure I'd buy one. Why not? Well, for starters, I don't like "comics-to-figures" -figures. Sometimes are very well made, but I have very limited space as it is, so I have no way to display something like that. Well, I could always clean a bit and make room, but....

Furthermore, the level of Joe's drawing is very high and I seriously doubt that it can be caught on a figure. Let's keep 2d and 3d apart, shall we?

I might be alone in my opposition, but dangit, at least I'm honest to myself!

I'd prefer a figurine to an action figure. They look better. Classier, less like toys and more like art. Sure, you can pose an action figure, but I'd trust Joe to draw Sandra in a suitably awesome pose anyway - why would I want to change it?

I think the place could do a good job of translating detail to 3D. No reason not to at least try, anyway. They wouldn't have to do it small-scale, the figurine could be done a bit larger to get all the details in.

See, I think figurines are just too uppity. I may be remembering that Mary Jane statuette from a year or two ago. The more I think about it, the more I despise that abominable thing. I think my hate of it has poisoned figurines for me (although they're still pretty neat.)

Now an action figure...there's something you can have fun with, screw around with, kind of like comics themselves. It would be hokey, yes, it would be cheesy and materialistic and kind of stupid, but you can't really deny the coolness aspect of it. Action figures are a step in the direction of bringing a character to life, and I for one can't deny the attraction of that idea.

As for "What Jack Saw"...Give it up, people. Zebra Girl ain't pr0n and it never will be. If it gets a little fanservice-ey from time to time, that's all well and good. But there are some things that are never meant to be canoodled with.

Like demons.

We've all got to accept that.

To me I'd rather have something capturing the vulnerability she had in the Leaving Earth story arc and before. Wings out, of course. 8)

Now it could be a bit of selfishness on my part, because I want to someday make a classy Zebra Girl film (I'm the guy who made this). Having an officially sanctioned figurine would be immensely helpful for visual effects, make-up, etc.

Plus, you know, I think it'd be totally rad to have something like that on display.

Oh, and I would not go for an action figure. In comparison to a good figurine, which these guys would build, custom action figures feel kinda... cheap. There are sites out there that do custom action figures, and they cost around the same.

We've all got to accept that.

Nudity, my dear friend, is not porn. The world is full of naked people, pictures of nakes people, even statues of naked people lined across the streets and parks, and no one not even for a second things of them as porn. Even sexuality is not porn. Things like Giger's work (along with Species and Alien) and Björk's video for All Is Full of Love, are high sexual in content, yet you don't scream bloody murder or cover the eyes of a child when coming across them. They even sell miniatures that feature topless women, naked women, women whos clothing seems to be malfunctioning dramatically (Games-Workshop's Kruellagh the Vile has one nasty camel toe caused by her Borat style thong), naked men (with all the doodads) and even anatomically correct monsters and animals, and so far I haven't seen any age rating on those things.

Besides, I wasn't entirely serious. A little, but not 100% (more like 99% serious). I wouldn't turn down a neat (as in "my workstation is neat" not "ain't my neon cap is quite neat") fleshy ZG model, if done in an artistic fashion. Much more than "Sandra kicking ass" or some scene from the comic. I don't really care for dioramas or such, more something neutral that you can place on your shelf on its own without it having to connect it to anything. Like just another piece among the many others, instead of Master Chief's helmet among your stuff, because to a person who doesn't know what it is, it might look strange, where as you could place a nice demonic ZG statue between your African fertility goddess and WW2 Soviet sniper scope without it standing out too much. Or something.

The figure/figurine doesn't have to be spread eagled, acid etching solid glass rods. Something innocent, even vulnerable would be nice. Like that one fanart of her lying naked on her room floor with the torn up pillow, like she had woken from a bad dream. Imagine her naked, but cover her up with her own wings, arms and tail. It could have that "open to the elements", "here alone at your mercy" and "taking shelter from the cruel world" themes to it.

Am I coming through, I had a few martinis, I've taken some painkillers for my aching tooth and I'm sleepy as Hell, so my logic is a little blurred at the moment.

Besides, when you're into fantasies (sexual or otherwise), you are free to take it as far as you can, because you will never get that playmate of the year or swimsuit model either. Dreams have no barriers, that's why they're dreams.

With action figures, I personally think that the joints will ruin the look of Sandra. Unless it was something like rubber or flexible plastic covering up those joints. Another thing would be the facial expression, it would probably only work with one or two stances. If her face was all feral type, it wouldnt look right if she had her arms crossed or sitting down.

But other than that its just a personal preference

Because she's got so many? Really I think it'd be challenge even getting it to stand up.
