Which comic is that one from?

I think you're improving (although you started off good enough that it's hard to notice :) ). TG Legion and the Fairy Nanase one especially look good to me.

Thanks. You know, my general time for a standard one character avatar has gone from an hour down to 20 minutes in the past three weeks. That, and I do feel my shading skills have improved a great deal. I have really only started shading my avatars two and a half weeks ago, so it not that strange...

I'd use one of these avatars, but I have a one that I like right now.
You look in the mirror, but someone else looks back. You remember a life you never had, one that cannot be yours. You are the piece that does not fit, you don't belong in this game. The board has been knocked over, and you shall be swept away...

And you see, my lad, the true moral behind the battle of Trenton is that if you party too hardy, George Washington will kick your ass. Any questions?

I've noticed that on some of them, the shadowing you do makes them the best avatars I've ever seen <_<, but on a lot of them, but shadowing is overdone, making them look kind of weird. Take these:

These are my absolute favorites of yours. If you can make them all of that quality, they'd all be Grade A superawesomefantastic.

Can you show me some avatars you think I have overdone the shading, because I can't really see it myself. (Could be because of my crappy laptop monitor, which has colour and brightness problems) I always strive for the most natural shading, so maybe you can help me improve.

Incidently, the first two images you showed make heavy use of shading. The third uses it too, but it is indeed more subtle.

For comparison, here are the un-shaded images.

Especially in the first one, the difference between the shaded and the un-shaded pictures is huge.

Thanks to Uite
I'd just like to thank you for creating those avatars and providing them to us free of charge. I've been wanting to replace my current avatar for a little while now and the second last Nanase of the Story-based-avatars suits me fine.

Much obliged.

here's a couple of recent images that I felt needed to be avatarized

*edit: For some reason I cannot get the first image to resize down to 100x100... oh well... not as though they were masterpieces anyway

*2nd edit: figures as soon as I say something about it instead of just trying to correct the problem it would fix itself

Well, the main problem you've got with those images is that they're both about 28 kb. The forums here require your avatars to be no bigger than 10 kb.

Oh, and please, no thread hijacking! I created this thread as to not hijack Inev's thread, which has become sort of the main avatar requesting/showing thread.

Well, it's actually from a strip in the story section, however, it's from a Sketch Week entry, so I grouped it with the filler images.

ah... I apologise Uite... I merely looked for the most recent avatar related thread in order to try and avoid posting off topic... I'm a little new to this stuff... as witnessed by the fact I don't know the necessary size for avatars... this particular offence will never again be attempted by this bunny

I quite like the color schemes for the last two.

Hmm... in fact, I'm noticing a theme in matching personality to background colors (purple/blue for Sumale, earth tones for Grace) more, and I must say I like it.

Actually, what I try to do is go for background colours that go with the emotions of the characters or setting, and because the characters have set personalities, certain colours are used relatively more for certain characters...

So yeah, you're basically right, if not for the right underlying reasons...

Whoa, you've been busy. I especially like these two.

And why is it you can so consistantly find pics to turn into avatars that I don't recognize? I can't think of where the Nanase/Justin one is from, and I really should...

I think it's because I look for interesting images, which often happen to be outside of the focus of that particular strip.

Anyway, it's from the end of Painted Black part 3.
