No, but the forum exists in two places. :p

I unsubscribed and subscribed myself to this thread and I didn't get any emails, so I -think- there is a thread or post somewhere that phpBB is just failing on and not going any further.

Zero again.

Methinks the forum is failing, and hardcore.

Damn AI. Maybe he's doing this on purpose.

And now mine is zero two.
I say this is sabotage. First the Virus attack from the ads. Now this. Someone wants to destroy this forum, and fast.

Edit: And now it's back to normal. What in Jordan's name is going on?

So that means...?

Edit: Oh. Something DID change. At least the 'tasteful image thread' notifications stopped as well.

That means I'm not getting 15 emails. I even subscribed to that thread that was reported. ... maybe I put the wrong email into the forums.

Looking at the maillog, it's actually suggesting that no email is being generated by phpBB at all.

Well I've ruled out php and the server not sending email, so it appears to be a bug/problem in the phpBB3 code... which is odd because comicgenesis is using the exact same version. Something has to be timing out in the email process.

Fatal error: Not able to open ./cache/data_global.php in /sandy/keenspot_forums/public_html/includes/acm/acm_file.php on line 112

This is looking more and more like a pure hard drive failure.

errors from cache files are when the cache files are flushed mid-activity. it shouldn't happen again (or at least the odds of it happening again are very low.)

Still, everything appears to be marked unread. Is it possible to restore the flags to the proper values? It's quite annoying having to reread everything one might possibly not yet have read, including much of what one had read.

I hadn't had any problems, but just now every topic came up with the "unread messages" flag, even if they haven't been posted to in months.

I assume you've checked the integrity of the underlying DB? If it's MySQL I personally would run mysqlcheck.

I'm seeing every topic with the "unread messages" flag, and at first suspected a clearing or rollback of "last read" datetimes, but a little following of the "first unread" links showed different datetimes for each thread. One had been rolled back two days, another had been rolled back to last summer(that was the slay thread, which is huge by main standards). Maybe the middle of each thread? Although threads I hadn't read at all accurately showed that...

Well, everything on the internet is physically housed on a server; those servers are simply a bunch of computers and hard drives tied into each other. So it could be that one of those hard drives is failing and taking the forum data with it as it goes.

I'm getting the same thing.

Plus I'm still getting repeated emails, plus they've been joined by the notifiers for the "Tasteful image thread" topic:

viewtopic.php?f=81&t=98413

All of these are marked with the same time and date stamp - January 23, 11:44pm, and all are identical copies.

And I'm still not receiving any other update notifiers, even for ones I've gone through and carefully subscribed to. (Also, my "subscriptions" all seem to have been removed. I re-subscribed to several of them, but no notifiers have come through.)

I'm not using a Yahoo mail account, just a regular one for my ISP.

Well Yahoo is the only one coming up with unresolvable mail servers... which would only explain delays in email, not duplicates.

Though strangely enough, I changed my email address yesterday, but checking the mail log is showing it still sending the email to my current email address.

There are no drive failures on the system, and the database was copied to an essentially blank system.
