[S.T.O.R.Y. 4/28/02] Awkward...

What was it that Faye said recently in Questionable Content? "...savor the awkwardness. It's so intense it's almost pleasurable."

Anyway, on a completely different subject, how many, er, "interesting" conversations do you think the people who work in that ice cream place overhear? Given it's location and all, I mean.

Honestly, Sarah's last line in this strip would definitely rank among my favorites.
MARTIN: What?
DANIEL: Okay. One, that's Star Trek; and two, it's ridiculous.
MARTIN: What's wrong with it?
CARTER: "The singularity is about to explode?"
MARTIN: Yes.
CARTER: Everything about that statement is wrong.
DANIEL: How exactly is having weapons at maximum going to help the situation?
MARTIN: The audience isn't going to know the difference. They love: "weapons at maximum."
MITCHELL: Never underestimate your audience. They're generally sensitive, intelligent people who respond positively to quality entertainment.
TEAL’C: I do not understand why everything in this script must inevitably explode.
MARTIN: Look, you guys may all know how things really work out there in the galaxy, but I know the film business. Explosions make great trailers. Simple fact. More explosions, better trailer. Better trailer, more viewers.

I have discovered that Death Note + Lucky Star = awsome.
Here's more proof.

It does stand out. EGS has many good lines and I would be hard put to name any single one as 'best', but some of them do stand head and shoulders above even the rest. This one is right up there with 'I stand by my ridiculous claim.'

Though as to Chaos Priestess' excellent question, it does put Sarah's line in an even still more awkward light, at least from the point of view of the people who work there. Just which of the other places in the area did she come from that induced such an intense need for sundae in her? :shifty:

Yeah, that last line just really works well.

It may not be where she's been, but where she's going.

Wow, the art has improved since those days. The layout per se isn't bad, but the character drawing is better by orders of magnitude.

At first I wanted to be able to see the area through the window there, but then I realized that maybe it is a minimalist painting and not a window. To settle this question I attempted to read the shop's name from the menu to determine its atmosphere. I can't read it though. I think it is either Ice Cream All Fun, Ice Cream Mutism, or Ice Cream Realism. Does anyone know the place's name?

I agree that Sarah's lie is epic. I must remember to use it at some point as an excuse for leaving places.

I think it says "Ice Cream Rules!!!" though I could easily be wrong.

Huh. And now I find myself mesmerized by the black panel on the wall... and it IS ambiguous as to whether it's mounted IN the wall, or ON the wall. The simplest answer, of course, is that it is a window displaying the dark night outside (and no other details, to avoid straining Dan's at-the-time limited drawing abilities.

Seems right to me.

And of course that's a window... isn't it? :shifty:

Crystal: That place has an interesting color-scheme. I like it, but it's more something I'd expect to see in a restroom/bathroom than in the main room of an ice cream shop...
