Man, Grace's first transformation really was dramatic, wasn't it? I suppose It's nice to start off things with a bang though. But looking back Grace's squirrel-girl form seems oddly spiky compared to how it is now. She could almost have some Jeremy in there. Still, hurray for the first transformation in EGS and all that.

I wonder whatever happened to the attempted robber after his close encounter. I'm thinking that he became one of those guys waving signs about how the end of the world was coming. After that I can see him as being convinced that demons were walking the Earth and it was only a matter of time until the armies of Hell openly waged war with humanity or something. That or he woke up the next day and blamed his "hallucination" on drugs and/or alcohol.

On a final note, it's nice to see that even in times of extreme stress Sarah remembers the standard operating procedure.

I remember reading somewhere that Dan originally wanted to have Grace's squirrel form be along the lines of "monster squirrel". As he actually wrote the story however, you can see Grace becoming more "cuddly squirrel" in spite of the original plan.
And yes, how can anybody ever forget "standard operating procedure"? :lol:

Given the etymology discussions that keep cropping up here... "wifthingy". :wink:

I think the spikiness is probably just Dan's early attempt to draw probably-somewhat-unkempt-looking hair and fur.

I absolutely love animal transformations. I think this is the sort of thing that first hooked me on the comic. There's nothing quite like the ability to take on a dramatic new form with superhuman abilities, particularly one with an appearance analogous to something from the natural environment.

Personally I liked the look fo this grace better then the one that followed, but the newest form is better still.

And congrats to dan for the first complex background

Hmmm. Sciuranthrope, which I suppose is the closest I can get, might just give a false message, since it could be interpreted as shadow person in addition to squirrel person...

I didn't know Grace was supposed to be a squirrel until it was explained several strips later, to be honest. The form she took in this comic just looked like a furry monster of some kind.

Yes, Grace's early squirrel forms have never looked very squirrel-y to me either... except for the tail.

== Spring, 2006 ==

Chronos: Sweeet. Now we're getting into some cool stuff.

And here I thought the highlight of this series was going to be when we got to the trans-gender part!
