Hmm... maybe this comic explains why we haven't seen Tedd do much mad science lately. He was traumatized by the damage to his beautiful deep... uh... crap, what color were Tedd's eyes again? Er, anyway, he decided to take a break and work on less explodey things for a while.

Really though you'd think that Tedd would have the sense to wear some kind of protection. Unless the explosion caught him completely off guard by happening while he was working with stuff like sand and water or it was the weird light effect that hurt his eyes instead of the explosion itself then he really has no excuse for such carelessness.

Given that he regularly experiences stuff like goo coming to life and being assaulted and battered by soapy bubbles, I think it more likely that it may be due to outside interference. Lord Tedd again, perhaps?

Since it's Tedd he probally takes his glasses off for the really dangerous experiments and keeps them on for the "safe" ones

Seconded!
MARTIN: What?
DANIEL: Okay. One, that's Star Trek; and two, it's ridiculous.
MARTIN: What's wrong with it?
CARTER: "The singularity is about to explode?"
MARTIN: Yes.
CARTER: Everything about that statement is wrong.
DANIEL: How exactly is having weapons at maximum going to help the situation?
MARTIN: The audience isn't going to know the difference. They love: "weapons at maximum."
MITCHELL: Never underestimate your audience. They're generally sensitive, intelligent people who respond positively to quality entertainment.
TEAL’C: I do not understand why everything in this script must inevitably explode.
MARTIN: Look, you guys may all know how things really work out there in the galaxy, but I know the film business. Explosions make great trailers. Simple fact. More explosions, better trailer. Better trailer, more viewers.

Steampunk is using steam-powered technology (and other tech from that era) for more advanced technology. Steam-powered airships, robotics, computers, etc.

Some examples of Steampunk:
-Much of the writing of Jules Verne
-Girl Genius
-Engineering in the Warcraft setting
-Wild, Wild West
-Final Fantasy VI (or III on the SNES) has a lot of steampunk elements.

I WOULD, but I'm too lazy to figure out how to do it in a way that doesn't break on different backgrounds - and I don't want to disable different backgrounds, because that's much of how I distinguish sites. Green and bubble-like => Keenspot forums. Amber text on a black background with ascii-art like graphics for headers => my hackish personal control panel thing. Stuff like that.

Third is traditionally green, I believe. But after than I don't think there is one.

Hmm... would the Uryuom tech be steampunk to? 'Cause that would be totally sweet. Brass UFOs loaded to bear with all these neat little whirligigs leaving trails of vapor behind in space, or a TFG with all these gears and a burst of steam coming out from the sides right before it fires. Oh, and all the characters would be dressed in Victorian clothing. You gotta have fancy clothes with steampunk. I wonder what Susan's outfit would look like...

Blast it, where's a competent fan-artist when you need one? Or maybe I should just make puppy eyes at Dan for the filler week.

Mmhmm, I find that true on CRTs, but on an LCD set up right, it doesn't cause much trouble.

I DO insist on white-on-black terminals, but that's still the visually-distinct thing.

Perhaps the reason things are different is because not only was Uryuom tech steam-punk in this world, but like in Second Life they joined in on human history before tech got beyond steam. Humans adopted Uryuom tech, and modern-style tech was never developed.

Alternately, maybe ONLY Uruom tech is steampunk?

As for clothes, I imagine that whatever the clothing styles are, Susan would still wear pants. Raven wouldn't even have to change outfits. What I wonder is, what would Sarah wear?
