[S.T.O.R.Y. 2/12/02] A hint on Dan's love life?

Or: How to creep out an author in five posts or less.

As the title for this strip says "Something Very Similar to this has Happened to Me..." So then, the question is, what side of the conversation was he on? Supporting the "Sarah's side" argument is the title itself. If Dan had been in the position of "oblivious guy" a title along the lines of "I Have Done Something very similar to this..." seems to me like it would be far more appropriate. For the "Elliot's side" argument however, it should be noted that in this comic Sarah called Elliot a goon which if I recall correctly used to be Dan's nickname. Also, as has been hinted at in the past with characters commenting that Dan really needs to get a date or the "Single does not mean alone" Valentine filler/background, Dan has not had much luck in forming a stable relationship. This is something which could in part be attributed to being a bit oblivious regarding "subtle" hints, along with his ruining the romance by talking about squirrel bagels while actually on a date.

It's hard to say with any certainty either way (especially as there is no way Dan is going to fill us in), but in the end I think I'm going to have to conclude something along the lines of "He he, only teasing Dan, no need to do anything drastic here :nervous: "

What I would like to know is how the EGS gets so cool movies while we in RL have to settle for Hollywood crap. And they get Jason D. Poit, too! Unfair!

It may be worth reminding that "Elliot Daniel Dunkel" and "Daniel Elliot Shive" probably have some similarities.

Chronos:

Gee, Elliot sure is oblivious. It's also sweet how he doesn't want Tedd to feel left out. (Unless that's supposed to be a hint to Sarah...)

I would have guessed Dan was the Tedd rather than Sarah or Elliot. I imagine it's pretty awkward being the third wheel on a date.
The book is almost always better than the movie. You could have no better case in point than FROM HELL, Alan Moore's best graphic novel to date, brilliantly illustrated by Eddie Campbell. It's hard to describe just how much better the book is. It's like, "If the movie was an episode of Battlestar Galactica with a guest appearance by the Smurfs and everyone spoke Dutch, the graphic novel is Citizen Kane with added sex scenes and music by your favourite ten bands and everyone in the world you ever hated dies at the end." That's how much better it is. - Warren Ellis.

Nobody ever told Picard that "Ye cannae change the laws of Physics!". They just DID it. - Vampiress Kat.

A subtle way of telling her he's already taken and whom by? ;)
MARTIN: What?
DANIEL: Okay. One, that's Star Trek; and two, it's ridiculous.
MARTIN: What's wrong with it?
CARTER: "The singularity is about to explode?"
MARTIN: Yes.
CARTER: Everything about that statement is wrong.
DANIEL: How exactly is having weapons at maximum going to help the situation?
MARTIN: The audience isn't going to know the difference. They love: "weapons at maximum."
MITCHELL: Never underestimate your audience. They're generally sensitive, intelligent people who respond positively to quality entertainment.
TEAL’C: I do not understand why everything in this script must inevitably explode.
MARTIN: Look, you guys may all know how things really work out there in the galaxy, but I know the film business. Explosions make great trailers. Simple fact. More explosions, better trailer. Better trailer, more viewers.

S: Hey, Elliot, wanna catch a movie tonight?
E: Well, I was already going with Tedd...
S: Good, pick me up at 8?
E: Umm, well, you see...
S: What??
E: That wasn't really... the plan.
S: What do you mean. *confused*
E: You see, it should be just the two of us.
S: Okay, we don't need Tedd, do we?
E: I meant... Tedd and me...
S: What do you... ... *blows fuse*
E: Uh, catch you tomorrow, Sarah...

Poor Tedd and Elliot...always getting shipped together...

The very notion of it would shatter their minds. (which is of course a large part of why we do it  )

Well, with reality itself shipping Teddliot, it's pretty inevitable ;)

They've been exposed to the notion before by Susan.
