Aw, come on. Sure, he's an asshat almost all the time, but the theme itself is fun.

The music i listened to gets played randomly so i probably wouldn't be able to sort it into albums.

Easily.

Must not judge other's musical tastes... lest my own be similarly judged...

I'm guessing this is about St Anger?

And the Butterfly Effect. I've seen them live toooo many times.

No comment on that.

It was only about Metallica, and I only hate them because they're money-grubbing pricks. Can't really comment on the music, never listened to enough to pass judgement. (And I'm going to keep it that way, 'cause I don't want to put myself in the position of hating them but liking their music)

Last three albums listened to:
1. RJD2 - Dead Ringer
2. Meshuggah - Nothing
3. Hot Snakes - Audit in Progress

Top five albums *
1. VAST - Visual Audio Sensory Theater
2. Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy EP
3. Cake - Fashion Nugget
4. Clutch - Pure Rock Fury
5. Buck 65 - Square

*In no particular order, and missing several other key titles that mean just as much as the five listed there (I CAN'T FUCKING CHOOSE, FUCK OFF)

Okay, I just typed out a motherfucker of a long post and deleted it. I don't want to get into a huge ongoing argument about this or anything, so I'll just keep it short.

Metallica cracked the shits with the downloading of their music, as did a fair share of other groups when the whole Napster shit-storm started. Other bands who actually put some real thought into the situation took a more mature and pro-active approach tried to work with what was happening by talking up the promotional value that mp3s can have and offering their own for download. Metallica, however, got very vocal about how awful it all was and how it had to be stopped etc. etc. If memory serves me correctly they tried to (did?) file law cases against people who had downloaded their music and sue them.

At the time (because I don't know if this is still the case), Metallica were recieving $4 or so per CD sale... a figure that was/is practically unheard of for most musical groups. I'm pretty sure that they were getting roughly 3x more than most 'big' bands per disc, and possibly the most money of any popular artists at the time.

They can't stand to lose some cash to MP3s, but they're perfectly happy to spend a bunch on trying to fuck over a handful of people (their own fans no less), many of which probably wouldn't be able to afford the legal fees and such if they had to.

And the song St Anger sucked.

Well, I thought so. I like some of their older stuff, though.

I'd heard alot of what Psy said before, in alot of places.
He has some really good reasons there, enough not to listen to them.

I really like the music Metallica does. Not enough to buy a cd, but I do like them.

I'm sure if enough evidence was put against them, I could find something else to listen to.

Like System of a Down. They're kinda similar.

You know, I've never heard a Metallica fan quote St. Anger as their favourite.
And, seriously, I just now heard "(What's the story) Morning Glory" by Oasis and it's one of the best albums EVER.
What makes it even better is that Oasis are bastards.

Note
: It was mainly Lars who took on Napster. Metallica are kind of dicks. I like the S&M Concert a lot.

Yeah you're right on that, but unless they tried to put a stop to it (and I've no reason to think that) then they're all guilty with him.

Oh, I agree completely. I wasn't trying to remove blame from all of Metallica. I was recalling "Some Kind of Monster" and where Lars said he did the most campaigning.
Those were fruitful days.
Everyone remember those days? Remember the beginning of napster?
Back when it was 'stealing' and nobody knew what was going on.

Truth to tell, i had never heard any of that stuff before. About them getting all pissed about the downloading of songs and the like, i can see how that would make someone dislike them. Had i heard any of this before i started listening to their music i would probably dislike them now, too.

But regardless of wether they're dicks or not,(because i have never met them in person, i would not know.) i like the music they play which is why i like them.

Come to think of it, that whole Napster fiasco started about six years ago so in a way it has been a while since it was the hot issue.
