Gay Pride Week

Postby spinachdip on Sun Jun 26, 2005 8:12 pm

So we went to go see the blue man group on Friday as planned (my friends and I) and much to our surprise we discovered that it was gay pride week in Toronto. I felt like such a little country girl....oh me

I saw my first trasvestite!!!!!! And I wanted to steal his shoes. Or would that be....her shoes? hm.....they were sweet either way...
We can't stop here, this is bat country.

I'd hate to be there because it's Summer in Northerny parts. Go Winter!

I saw a transvestite on the bus the other day. A man with lipstick and eye shadow and the whole deal. It was quite a laugh.

I picked a hell of a time to leave the country.
Vootie!

If this were feminist week, would we see pussies everywhere?
I believe the #1 enemy to gay tolerance is gay pride week and gay pride parades.
You don't get the religious right on your side if you walk around in bondage with feathers up your ass.

Hard to say if they would really want the religious right behind them.

What with after all that jazz with the no gay marriges, it would be kinda wierd for eccentric gay people everywhere to be more... more hetero.

I'm seeing it as something along the lines of asking black guys to be white.

But don't think I don't see where you're coming from, if you get them on your side, they'll give ya your marriges and such. Toning them down would just be alittle out of character.

There are 2 types of gay people, and if you've seen Will and Grace, you know the 2. It is sexual orientation. There is the theatric queen, and then there is the homosexual guy. I've seen both. I know people that are like the 2 and I have seen no other kind.

This isn't at all like asking white guys to be black. That is the most retarded comparison I have ever heard. It is "If you want to be accepted, don't make a scene". It is what you say to little kids too. I am just saying it is ironic.

And Monica: Has anyone in this forum said they SHOULDN'T let be? Anyone? Really? Or are you just jumping the gun and assuming there is hate here?

It's exactly like asking black guys be white.

A theatric queen will go to the damn parades, and have a great time. Or they'll throw a fit, and won't. Either way, they're not going to appeal to the religious right, and I doubt they'll care.

And saying that Will and Grace sums up the types of gay people has to be the most retarded thing I have ever heard.

There seems to be a lot of gun jumping going on around here. Seriously. Maybe all Moniker means is what she says, which is "nobody cares."

As far as i know nobody in here is gay. So given that there is no homosexuailty in here, i don't think that gives us the right outlook to be saying these things. What i'm trying to say is that if you aren't a gay person then you cannot fully understand their point of view.

I don't see how 'their' point of view would be so far removed from yours or mine. Just because we're interested in people with different junk in their trunk doesn't make someone any harder (or easier) to relate to.
So I think, anyway *shrug*

Thanks Fomorian.

Really 'Spire, I've figured out that people on this forum are open minded enough not to be bashing gay people.

This analyzing of gay people is a little ludicrous. So far, I've figured that being gay is pretty much a sexual preference, and there are tons of personalities that go along with it. It's not like we can sit down and say, "There are 3 types of heterosexuals in the world."

Homosexuality is...just that. It's two people of the same gender being sexually attracted to each other.

Gay culture, on the other hand, is more than just homosexuality in different words. It involves more than just whom one sleeps with. It's also a lifestyle, a set of beliefs, and a personality style. It's also not a matter of either/or--there's a spectrum of gayness that has some homosexuals being more gay than others, again regardless of sexual activity sometimes. Part of being gay is being outwardly so, and gay pride parades are important for members of the gay community to celebrate their identity more outwardly than they normally do.

It's like major sporting events--huge fans of a particular sport and/or team will show that part of their lifestyle and personality a lot stronger when there's a major event going on than when there isn't. Lately the gay lifestyle has had more legal matters raised, and it's always been more political than sports fandom, but there's still a parallel there. Gay pride day/week is a chance for people who are really big on the whole gay thing to put special effort into celebrating that part of themselves. It's not like they're only trying to make a scene to piss off straight people.

I was just marveling at how innocent and little girl-ish I felt being in the middle of gay pride week...I live in a small community that has like...."1 standard gay guy" so I just found it kind of interesting.

And I think that they should make gay marriage completely legal. Who's business is it who I decide to marry just because its going to be a man? Just because I am heterosexual doesnt make me a better person, with the right to more freedoms. Gay people deserve the right to live their own lives, and share their lives how ever they see fit.

the government should spend so much effort trying to fix health care, we'd all be bionic people for God's sake. Let love be. geez.

It's a valid discussion.
Fag fag fag.
Gay gay gay.
Let's talk about gay people and not cover our mouths incase someone might not be offended.
Is anyone offended? I'm not. Is anyone offended? Then leave the fucking thread. If I am the only one here, then fine, but for Moniker, bye bye. You've said it all. You're done here, right? Who cares? Not you? Okay. Your work is finished. Don't come in and say I shouldn't care, and people shouldn't care, because even if they shouldn't who the fuck are you to say?

Most gay people are regular people. But then queens are the exception. I am not saying they are one or the other. I am saying most people are 1: normal people. It is that 10% that are the theatric lispy feminine kind.
And there is Jack queen, who is charming and funny, and Mike from my old school queen, who is annoying as fuck.
Hey, guess what? Whatever you do impacts who you are, and sexual preference is a BIG one. That dips into a lot of what you say, do, and act, if you haven't noticed. Sexual preference has a lot to do with how you act, so it isn't "nothing". How much of a straight guy's life is taken up by women in some form? Thinking about them, watching them, pursuing them?
Yeah, fuckers.

Nobody is bashing. I am saying: gay tolerance cannot exist as long as there is a gay pride parade. That is it. That is the irony. That is something I chuckle at. I am not saying they should not do it. I am saying "Tee hee, look".
Gay pride parades are fucked up. It is crazy.
Anyone deny this?
Will anyone say it isn't?
Moniker?
Or no wait, you're gone.
Anyone besides Moniker? Or anyone who is half offended?
Fuckers.
All of you.
If I see Moniker post again I will be super pissed.

I say gay marriage should exist due to the legal implications it represents. Owning real estate and morgages and such and such. Things that fall under government standards. The rest is religious. I won't get married in a church because I am not in that church. I am not Christian or Catholic. Their shit doesn't apply to me, and their organizations aren't filled with bigots saying they hate me! Even if it shouldn't be, they're still filled with bigots who won't change.
Fuckers. All of you.
