I can see logic in this point IF you mean that getting in people's faces will piss them off, and IF you think that tolerance cannot exist if people are angry.

I, for one, wouldn't mind having an event where I could parade around celebrating my heterosexuality, but unfortunately people would miss the point entirely--they'd just assume I'm some random drunken slut who has no intention of challenging the assumption that being straight is something other than a social construction that the vast majority take for granted. It will be a long time before a large celebration of heterosexuality takes place as a unique event. In fact, I hope one day that what's now a tradition of gay pride will just turn into one big festival of over the top theatrics and flamboyancy for all sexualities across the board.

As for the gay marriage issue, legal rights are legal rights, and homosexual couples should have the same rights and options under the law that heterosexual couples do, and various churches and religious institutions should have the right to decide what kind of actions are within their moral code, i.e. should be able to marry under their roofs whatever kind of couple they want.

being a human being should be enough to qualify you for equal human rights.

Man, I wish I saved the news story. I believe the Mayor of Yellowknife declared "Heterosexual Pride Day" one day before the Gay Pride Day in Yellowknife and it pretty much blew up in his face. Anything from just thinking it was stupid to labelling him anti-gay. Oh wait, here's the news story. Hmm. I can't seem to find one dealing with the aftermath of the situation. But it was pretty much cancelled.

If I see Moniker post again I will be super pissed

So now that you answered the question of "Who cares?" (you), you have to contribute something after belittling everyone who was discussing it.
Or be raped in the face. By me.
Gayly.

Remember "She's here, she's queer, get used to it?"
That was from the show Elen, when it was on the air.
And everyone is used to it. I'm used to it. I have no problem with it. I defend homosexuality. I defend it against anyone who says people were "meant" or "not meant" to do something.
I defend it against anyone who says it threatens any values, beliefs, or morals. But I also attack people who annoy me. Not physically, right.

Look, I'll be the first one to stand up and talk about sucking cock or something. That's the only side of the coin I can do. If I talk about eating pussy then I'm just a guy, but if I were a girl, it'd be cooler, because that's hot.
I also say that the male body is gross.
In conclusion: I am a judge of character before anything else.
And this country and the promises it makes concerning freedom and acceptance come before anything else, including gay faggy ass Christianity.

I don't think people are ready for any sort of Straight Pride Day anyway, MonMon. It takes too much thinking and introspection for people to understand why their heterosexuality is a part of their culture. And, really, straight people get to act as straight as they want on a daily basis without much risk; gay people at least get noticed when they're way on the edge.

I actually agree with EventSpire, although I don't think that anyone here disagreed with him. The only way to true tolerance is to just not care. If you hold a gay pride parade, then you care. If you speak out against homosexuality, then you care. If you speak out supporting it, you care also. Even if you just sit back and nod occassionally, you care. Everyone's making a bigger fuss about it day after day in the name of tolerance. It just doesn't work that way.

Then again, people fight wars in the name of peace all the time.
