Be Cool

Postby [Edit] on Mon Apr 04, 2005 10:36 am

Saw this yesterday, good movie. Maybe I'm just a sucker for smooth talkers. And John Travolta (since Pulp Fiction). And Andre (Outkast), the Black Eyed Peas, and hell, Steven Tyler was cool, too.

You know what? I haven't seen it, but I want to still.

I did see Sin City though.

Oh man.

How was it? "Oh man, I need to change my pants" or "Oh man, the guy next to me needs to change his pants, 'cause I threw up so often".

It was good.

It was like, line for line from the graphic novels. I think it was based off the first three and I read the first book and so when that story took place I was just jaw dropped and in awe because it was so similar, it really was amazing.

I loved the style so much, and it was full of huge stars that I think have pretty good talent and fit the characters they played pretty nicely. All and all I recommend it, I thought it was pretty fancy.

Pretty fancy 4EVER!

I didn't know that Sin City was out yet.

That's what happens when you don't have a TV in your room; you can't keep track of when any movies are gonna be unless they're really really important like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

P.S. What is "Be Cool"?

A movie. I'll see Sin City eventually, I see every movie. I know everyone at the theater near my house. It's nice.

A few of my friends went to see Be Cool and literally walked out of it. These guys have never walked out of a film before, and they usually have pretty solid taste in films. I think I'll wait for rental and reserve my judgement 'till then.

In the mean time I'll just wait for Sin City.

Really? I don't know, I could have seen it being a not-so-great movie, but I was in the mood to be entertained in all the ways it did so.

Be Cool was alright... Get Shorty was better. And Pulp Fiction was definitely a better combination of Travolta and Uma. It was entertaining though, just not the best movie I've seen in a while. One the one hand, it sort of comes of as just some big promotional gig for that singer girl trying to sell albums (because she actually does have an album for sale, or so I'm told), but oh well.

Yeah, you really can't compare much of anything to Tarantino's stuff, though, its just not fair. He's obviously a genious, not everyone gets to be a genious. Get Shorty was better, too. Le sigh.

Be Cool is the sequal to Get Shorty and was meant to be John Travolta's big comeback, so I heard. I also heard that it very much wasn't. But then here I'm hearing that it's good. Damn mixed reviews.

Yeah, I can't wait for Don't Panic.

Sin City is too good. Everyone in the theatre shit their pants about how good it was.
Be Cool is a tribute to movies. They take us back to Pulp Fiction, back to Travolta and Uma dancing, and they are dancing here, but we don't know why, and we don't care, and we look down, and look up, and they're still going, and I go "Oh, ha ha, Pulp Fiction. I get it", and there they go.
And I ask myself "But why?"
And then I go cleanse my palette by watching Sin City and stare in awe at how well Kevin was portrayed.
Did anybody else think that?
I read all the books.
Hardigan's stuff didn't hold up as well as I wanted. They cut out some stuff with Wendy in Hard Goodbye that I would have liked to see.
Big Fat Kill was the gem of the film.

Elijah Wood did fantastic as Kevin. I thought Marv was great too. Those are the two main ones for me, because I only read the first one.

But man, what a great movie. Too great almost.

Speaking of movies, whatever happened to the Wonka remake? I haven't heard anything about that in ages.

I'm indifferent on the matter. I'm just hoping it doesn't wreck the original.

How would it do that? If it turns out bad, it'll just reinforce the quality of the first movie. If it's good then everyone will pretend that they never thought it was going to suck. Win/win.
