If you've clicked the second link in my sig, or if you're an existing user, then you already know what I'm talking about. If not, Audioscrobbler is a service that keeps track of the music you listen to, then lists your top tracks, bands etc. It finds and lists other uses that have a similar taste in music to yours, and provides a service where you can listen to the bands that they do (which is great way of finding new music to listen to).

What I'm wondering is, do any of you also use it? I like to know what kind of music that people listen to, largely so I can find more good bands to add to my collection. So, if you're on there, tell us your user name!

So, will I be seeing an Eventspire flavoured scrobbler list?

I must say, when I clicked on this topic I was hoping for something a little bit more odd-ballish then what I found...interesting idea though.

I like AudioScrobbler, its a pretty awesome thing. I don't have it myself, and mainly because I don't listen to MP3's on my computer enough for it to mean anything, I either have cd's on or my ipod. But my good friend has one and it is fun to see the order of most popular bands and whatnot, and to see how many times she's listened to a certain song etc.

I wish I listened to MP3's enough to have one, but I don't, so sadly I do not and probably never will have AudioScrobbler. But Psy, I actually did click on your link a few weeks ago and checked your site out, it was pretty cool. I remember two bands- Cake and At the Drive In if I am not mistaken. Cake is all around great and if I am right, I saw "Enfitide" for ATDI? I love that song so much. I would call people up and when they answered I'd play the phone call at the beginning to them, it was awesome.

My name will be Switchboard. I never listen to music on the computer cause I have this fancy Mp3 player. Damn it.

I was thinking of making an MiH group if a few people joined, but that would require a few people joining...
I'll wait and see how my fellow Aussie-folk take to the idea, perhaps they listen to mp3s enough for it.

That means I have to start burning all my CDs onto my computer.

Blah. Whatever. I'll do it.

Am I the only one here who rips their CDs?
I always thought it was a pretty commonplace practice, guess I was wrong.

My stereo died many years back, so I just got some decent speakers for my PC and have been using that as my stereo ever since.

Yeah I use my computer as my player too- but I'm usually just not bothered having to burn them all because it takes such a long time and I'm such an impatient person.

Another thing is that some companies have started making their CDs unburnable- ie. Eskimo Joe, and that demoralises me as well as pisses me off.

Yeah, you don't have to tell me about all that DRM bullshit. I've written a few rants about it already.
One thing to remember about it though: Thus far, someone has always got around it somehow. Even if I can't rip some of the CDs that I own (or listen to them properly in my PC for that matter), I know that at any time I can download the MP3s if I want to.

I ripped all my CDs and put them onto this Mp3 player.
The comp is too slow and lags like a bitchsauce.

I have a laptop.. that has about an 18 gig hard drive. That doesn't leave very much space for music. I used to have a lot of music on it, but it was slowing me down. Now all I have is about 700mb of swing dance music on my computer. All my other mp3s are on CDs, still in mp3 format.

I rip all my cd's onto my computer and put them on my mp3 player too. I just don't listen to music on my computer enough to have AS. But I use all three methods for music, cd's, mp3s on computer, and my ipod.

Screw you, Psyonide.

Audioscrobbler is fucking addictive.

Are you propositioning me?
... I'm not hearing a no!

But yeah, I find that I keep looking over what I've been listening to and being surprised at the ratios of band X to band Y. It's nice that way.

Also, what's your username?

Yeah it's fun, it's like I'm stalking myself.

eskimodora, like the original soul I am.

Looks like I'm going to have to wait until I get home to stalk you, it seems work has a problem with the AS website.

Edit: Seems to be working fine now. I am such a stalker.

So if you stalk me and I stalk you, do we cancel each other out?

If we're aware that we stalk each other, it just might.
SO! We must never let each other know about it!

Edit: I made a MiH group on Audioscrobbler, just in case any more of us decide to start using AS. Join it, you know you want to.
Do it.

You're my mentor?

Since when did you become my mentor, you stalker?

p.s. I took a picture of the shirt you were wearing today, it was nice lookin'. 8)

You stole Krug's soul? he won't be happy about that!

"Mentor' is whomever accepted you into a group, I don't think it actually affords any special rights or anything. If you were to accept someone into the MiH group you'd be their mentor.

I have a hard drive full of mp3's and virus's laying around here somewhere, just as soon as get around to fixing all the bugs in it, I'll probebly join.

That would be lovely.
I've been a little bummed since I found out that a group has to have at least 10 members before it starts getting the top artists/tracks calculated. Seeing as the MiH group currently has a grand total of 2 members, Founder included...
