How can you talk to someone later forever?

Turning common phrases into acronyms is the worst thing the Internet has ever done. Except for increasing the circulation of child porn. And spreading hate for racial, religious, ethnic, and homosexual groups. Those are the first and second worse things it's ever done, in that order. The acronym thing comes in third...but it's still pretty bad.

Sorry cats, I just now read what Khris wrote.
Khris you are some sort of raving lunatic. You have to be castrated so you don't reproduce.

1). The internet didn't cause acronyms; people did. People like you.
2). Come to think of it, the internet didn't do anything. The bible didn't conquer the world, the madmen reading it did. That's an example. The internet didn't cause examples either. We're going to take this one step a time, you and me.

What amazes me is your failure to recognize a joke. "TTYL 4EVER!" is funny. It's funny cause you can't talk to someone later forever. I am going to cremate your skull.

Oh irony of ironies! Someone is criticizing me for not recognizing a joke when they themselves cannot recognize the joke!

In case you didn't notice, EventSpire, I compared something so silly and nonsensical, yet ever so insignificant, as "TTYL 4EVER" to much more serious problems like the spreading of child pornography and hate literature, which clearly have a much more seriously damaging impact on a large number of people than the stereotype of a teenage internet user. It was what people call a "hyperbole", as you may recall from grade nine English class.

As for what the Internet did or didn't do, well, we'll just have to wait and see what is uncovered when the truth about this suspicious individual is finally exposed!

[dun dun DUN!!!!!!]

You have no idea how to tell a joke.
I don't believe for one second that you were trying to be funny. And if you were, you were doing the worst job I have ever seen. Nowhere in your post was there anything to be hinted that you were fooling around. I don't buy it. What you did was put it BELOW child porn and everything. If you put it ABOVE child porn that could be hyperbole and then people would clue in and say "Oh, he is joking. It is exaggeration". You didn't do that. You put it as a problem, but not a big problem, but you hate it. Where was the joke?
I'm not sure you even know how to use hyperbole.

Secondly, no "people" use the word hyperbole seriously. Only pompous fags do.

If I wanted to make a joke while screaming at the top of my lungs and flailing my arms in the air as if the world were about to end, I would put it above child pornography and hate propaganda. If, on the other hand, I wanted to use a little more tasteful, intelligent, and subtle humour, I wouldn't have, which is exactly what I did. Did I put it below these two other morally atrocious uses of the internet? Yes, but I put them right below it, and mentioned nothing else. Such would imply that those are put in a category.

Besides, obviously there are many issues with turning these phrases into acronyms. Obviously it is certainly not at the fault of Yarn's use of "TTYL 4EVER" because that was a clearly satirical observation of the use of such language (and I use that word loosely) which, yes, was mildly amusing for what it was worth. My post made after that was really just a tangental rant that I decided to lace with a little bit of subtle humour (although those who can't quite get it might not call it as such). And thus this pointless little debate-of-the-day where you and I insult each other in our own little fashions until we get bored of it and move onto something else. Funny how things work out, isn't it?

You can't say you were using hyperbole and then go back and say you were trying to be subtle. Subtle doesn't work like that. Subtle didn't work in that case, because it seems logical. On the list of things that you hate about the internet, that was the third. You didn't compare it to them, you placed it below them. It came off as personal taste. It came off as opinion, not as fact. You failed.
You failed at making a joke.
Khris, if we are at this point in discussing your joke, you failed. It didn't go. If we are right here, right now, with you trying to defend it, you failed. You should have said "Okay, back to the drawing board" and looked at what you did wrong. But no, you are insulting the audience, the people you made it for, by saying what they did wrong, but no, that isn't how it works. See I can sympathize with this. Sometimes my jokes go flat. But you have to look at yourself, what you said, how you work, where your cogs are, and say "Okay, maybe this thing isn't working". Yarn missed it, and I missed it. You can walk around saying we're the stupidest cats around, but that won't make your idea of what a hyperbole is any better.
My post made after that was really just a tangental rant that I decided to lace with a little bit of subtle humour blah blah

Snooty fag word #2: Tangental.

You structured it poorly. You were the "two" in the "one two" punch of jokes, but I cannot stress this enough: you did not do it properly. I don't think you're sure of what you're doing. I don't want to sound harsh about this but you are forcing me to. You did your joke wrong. It came off as opinion. If you placed it above those things, it wouldn't have been funny but people would have understood. Maybe snickered. No, probably not even that, but it is better than the crickets that you got.

And thus this pointless little debate-of-the-day where you and I insult each other in our own little fashions until we get bored of it and move onto something else. Funny how things work out, isn't it?

Snooty Fag Tactic #1: The "holier than thou" rhetorical question.

You're right. This is stupid. Let's stop. But if anyone agrees with me that it didn't seem like a devilishly constructed, subtle jab at internet culture, just say so. I want to see if me and Yarn are the only ones.
And Khris, you said that there are plenty of faults with acronyms, well let's hear them.

This is where I'm going to stop pretending to be a cocky ass bastard (although it's been quite fun along the way, and I've meant it a lot more light heartedly than it's come off, for which I apologize) so I can clear up a few things here.

Yeah, I missed with that joke. It obviously wasn't delivered well enough to be received by its audience as I desired. In fact, it was received far too seriously, which is the only reason I decided to stand by it--because I didn't think that the serious responses were actually that serious at first. In hindsight I probably should've skipped the whole Snooty Fag (as you actually quite accurately put it) bit and gone straight to the whole "Hmm, yeah, in hindsight those probably aren't very parallel" part.

But, it's escalated, as we can both tell. Have I failed? With this joke, sure. Of course, this joke wasn't supposed to be the do-all end-all and I just made it as a passing mention. If I had known this is what would become of it, I probably would've put more thought into it. Next time I'll think twice about the consequences--I've learned a valuable lesson here that no Internet Message Boards 101 class can teach me. Now that I have a better understanding of the audience here, I can work harder towards writing an appreciated joke rather than these bad ones that keep spouting out of me. Thanks, EventSpire. You've done a great deal to help a gal in need of guidance. :) Let's be friends now.

See, on a forum, you can't gauge sarcasm. All of that could be sarcasm, I don't know. But let me clear a few things up here:

I don't like forums very much. I don't like being on the internet talking to people. It is uncomfortable. Why am I here? I don't know. I don't like looking for arguements (debates, discussions, whatever). But it happens, just because I talk a lot. And if some stupid petty thing has been drawn out, it is because a button has been pushed. This isn't about Khris' joke, this is all about humour for me. I related it to myself, I related it to others, and that is how I can turn something gay like this into a huge post about whatever the hell it is I was talking about.
I said failure because I needed to be blunt as possible. I relate humour to entertainment, because it is all about the audience. And what I have learned is that in entertainment, you never get marks for trying.
See if I say a joke, and nobody gets it, I go "fuck!" and then shut up, feeling like a tool usually. If it were some other form of literature or something, I could say "Well they just didn't get it." Humour is funny that way. Get it? No? Fuck!

You're a gal? As in girl?
Let's have sex.

My own personal difficulties with communicating on the internet is that I find it hard, in casual interaction, to write out a whole paragraph without including some mildly sarcastic thought--which, in my case, isn't the bitter and obvious kind of sarcastic but rather the light hearted sarcastic in which the tongue is mostly kept inside the cheek. And yeah, that flaw of mine shows pretty clearly to me when things like this pop up, because no one hears my tone of voice or sees my face when I'm posting a message to a Keenspot comic forum. You'd think I'd use that knowledge from experience to stop making those comments without a clear indicator of the subtext and intentions, but it only works about half the time.

As for the sex, I only have three things to clear up: time, place, and collateral. Then you just need to sign here, here, annnnnd...here.
