Not to knock the real KeenCon II, but intresting to at least discuss:

As you know, Paramount's going to hold a virtual Star Trek convention:

Nice, eh? Too bad Mac and Linux users can't attend.

I was thinking about how to change that, for a Virtual KeenVention. Some specs as I see it, but it's all on paper.

Client/Server will be baised off of Quake 2, which is now open sourced (GPL'ed). To handle the load/amount of users, several rooms will be needed, as well as selective handling of each user to each client.

The graphics are going to be made from scratch. Sorry about that. We have to due to the licences involved. I'm not sure if the individual models should be pulled by demand or not, but I know a definite archive will help. Signup'ed users who can model or provide "skins" can help. The animiatons are going to be much simpler than what Quake 2 has (walk, run, jump, crouch, talk in differnt ways, sit for example).

Minimum requirements? What's the minimum for Quake 2? :D

Intresting, eh?

Yes, interesting.

Wow, it sounds like a grand idea.
