And I can't quite get over the second panel in today's strip. Uncle Sam and John Bull joined by a freakish Canadian being with antlers and a maple-leaf shirt. Captain Canuck?
Of course, I can't recall the last time a Canadian prime minister or anything was caricatured.
The Russians had the bear, but do/did the French have any kind of national iconic figure, outside of all those drawings of DeGaulle? Maybe DeGaulle *is* France's Uncle Sam. I got a kick out of his near random inclusion in "The Triplettes of Belleville."
Oh, and my Christmas cookies have never been blood red. Although now you've given me the idea of a gingerbread King Herod ordering the execution of all Hebrew males, represented by gumdrops.
