THE GREATEST NANCY PANEL EVER DRAWN:

http://jimwoodring.blogspot.com/2006/07 ... drawn.html

As one astute commenter notes, this card alone would win a 5 card Nancy.

dear bup,

i hesitate to post an opinion about this doodle, 'cuz you'd prolly excoriate me for it. on the other hand, no posts at all may very well leave you feeling somewhat under-appreciated.

an intractable situation, no?

OHMYGOD THE PENGUINS WON'T SOMEONE THINK ABOUT THE PENGUINS???

...it _does_ seem odd that the fish got so short-changed, though - i mean, most of the penguins made it.

Thanks for that link. He's got some good points, but ignores how saccharine FBoFW can be.

So he's wrong.

Hmmmm .... I hear he's been looking for a new project, and we all know he has no compunction about stealing other people's good ideas.

"SILENT PANEL"

Haw!

Also that clanging noise you hear is the sound of a gauntlet being thrown down. Your quest to be the most sesquipedalian webcomic in Christendom just suffered a set back.

Today's Splendid Everlasting rocks the word "bedizen" like nobody's business. I'll give you the whole weekend to wrap your mind around that.

OK now the server's up. It's a great one!

Unlike some novels named "The House of the Seven Gables," which I won't mention.

That Guy Brandhoe is a real jerk.

Today's strip basically happened to my wife.

The most bizarre part was that in real life it happened while she was teaching a college class - the classroom phone rang, she answered it, and the person kept insisting that she had given the woman this wrong number, although my wife has a different name than the name the caller kept using.

A similar but entirely different thing happened to me once. There is a seller of chiropractic services whose domain name is "vivitek.com", very close to my own "vivtek.com". For years, they had a typo in their email link and I would get business inquiries. I would always redirect them, but one of these people, for some reason, got extremely irate that I refused to tell him a doctor local to him who would help him -- finally I convinced him that I did programming services and translation, not chiropractic. His parting shot was an angry email that he would never do business with me again.

About Today's (sept 2) one... "rape will remain as long as it is a successful reproductive strategy"... seems pretty reaching.

I don't think we've established anything approximating a "rapist gene", so it's not a matter of natural selection. I'm only hazarding a faint guess here, but somehow I doubt most rapists are thinking "Ooh! That one'll pop out Junior nicely!"

Edit: 666th post. Holy moly.

On the bright side, Boxjam could be dead by the time you read this.

I have the same objection to the rape one: rape could cease to be a good reproductive strategy (arguably it already has) but it would still have no effect on our hardwiring on any human timescale.
