By the way, relating to "Harvey":
The original play that the movie was based on was staged in England, and Harvey (the original inspiration, of course) was a regular part of the cast.
At some point, as the idea for the movie materialized, Harvey was negotiating for his appropriate leading role. He was going to donate his fee to a particular charity.
These negotiations went sour when it was learned that Harvey was visible to the cameras.
Of course, this effect at never been a problem in the play, as all performances were live.
There was a momentary thought of using Harvey anyway, then erasing him from the footage -- but the digital technology that we have now was not available then. It would have to have been done by hand.
They decided that Jimmy Stewart could just pretend that the Pooka was there. This worked only middling well.
As Stewart later explained, Harvey is actually more comfortable at 6'8", not 6'3-and-a half as the script called for. You can see Stewart, quite tall himself, looking UP at where the Pooka should be. Also, the time allowed for Harvey to get through doors and such is not quite enough for the pooka at his normal human-relating size.
Harvey was understandably miffed at the turn of events. An enterprising associate of Gnorman's brought suit against the studio for using Harvey's name and likeness (he appears in a painting in the movie).
When Harvey learned of the suit brought in his name, the gnome-attorney kept tripping over his shoelaces until he figured out that the lawsuit should be dropped. This took 17 months, during which time the appearance of the gnome deteriorated substantially.
Gnomes apparently pick up on business deals more quickly than on such ethical subtleties.
The same may be said of some human attorneys.
The painting wasn't a very good likeness anyway, although Harvey was privately flattered that it was used at all.
I have no idea of Pooka family relationships, and do not know if Harvey is related to our Mopsy. But his legacy continues -- Mopsy's uncle Matthew made reference to Harvey and the legal-gnome in his comment to Mopsy about "tripping over shoelaces".
===|==============/ Level Head
[This message has been edited by LevelHead (edited 12-22-2001).]

Wear eye protection, the blarney's flying fast and furious!
-The Gneech
PS: The issue has come up elsewhere of Harvey's ability to stop time and perform other fantastical feats. It's worth noting that this is not an ability inherent to pookas. However, there's no reason why pookas can't also be wizards.
