Goodbye to It's Walky

Postby Gamerking on Tue Oct 26, 2004 7:29 pm

Wow, seven long years (and the only nudie is Walky :-? .) Well, after all these years it's over. I never like seeing a webcomic end, but i hate to see It's Walky end. I've been coming here every week for the past 3 years reading up on what's going on. I've loved this comic for the three years that I've read it and I'm sad to see it go. I love all of the characters you created for this comic. You made them seem alive. it was an absolutely amazing comic. I'm going to miss coming here to see what Walky is doing. I'll make frequent visits here to see what new thing David's coming up with. Thank you for making this strip for this long and giving it to society. And for God's sake, take a break. You need one.

I've been reading It's Walky so long I can't even remember when I started. At least three and a half/four years or so. I went back to Roomies Strip 1 and kept right on reading. Ever since, IW has been one of my staple comics. One of the few strips I make sure not to miss. Part of me is sad that it is over, but I am happy that it ended on it's own terms, and not by way of permanent hiatus or worse. I will miss it greatly, and I will keep checking the front page to catch the new story.

Enjoy the break, Dave, and best of luck with the new strips and the revival of Roomies. :)

Praise you, Willis, for making me get hooked in that comic of yours for over 11 months and still counting.

I only started reading about four months ago, I was so impressed with IW it went straight to the top of my comic list and became the one thing I'd read every day in the five minutes I had to wake up, get dressed and head out to work.

I enjoyed IW so much that after finishing my first reading I decided a second reading would be more in order and I got more into the characters, understood some motives better and was just less hellishly confused by the wackyness of the plot at many of the turns.

I even started sketching IW's stuff seeing how I was never good at drawing I started off with some sketches copying some of the characters in some of my favorite scenes and poses (whilst reading through for a third time)

At least this end is not a complete end, it's merely the begining of something new and shiney.

I started reading "It's Walky" about the time Sal went crazy. It has become one of my favourites - the quality has often astounded me.
Whatever Willis comes up with next, I'm certain I'll enjoy it. (THAT WAS NOT A DARE TO PROVE ME WRONG, WILLIS! THAT WAS NOT A DARE!)

I only started reading last week!
I'd looked at Walky a couple of times in the last few years (the FANS! crossover comes to mind), and decided that I already read enough webcomics... Figures I'd start, just when Walky ended. :/
I popped in last week (newsbox link, IIRC) and wa intrigued enough to finally give it a go. Woah, what a rush! Going through the whole thing in a wek is a heckuva roller coaster ride!
I'm sorry I didn't start sooner - I never got to read it as a daily feature, anticipating the next installment... Well, except for the last 3.

A great ride. So, when do the books come out? :)
Good gosh, it's going to take a dozen volumes to cover the whole thing...

And so, It ended.

I'm mostly a silente reader, for english is not my native language and I mostly steal web time during work, but this is an occasion that called for registring into the keenspot forums.

a few years ago, I happily discovered (for the artist and comic lover I am) the infinite universe of web comics. Roomies was one of the first I read, with also Penny Arcade, PvP, MegaTokyo and many others. Many artists lost their motivation, some lost interest, others couldn't find the time anymore and one passed away (Nicole will always be in my heart). It's Walky is one of the few who made it across the finish line.
It takes alot of dicipline to start this kind of hobby and continue even after the chram wears off. it take talent and skill to develop round characters who are as real and alive as you and I. to create a complex universe, a dramatic saga, but also to include humour and satire.
and although there is a sadness in every ending, this one is different - because now this work is Complete.

way to go.

Having started reading during the Roomies days, I am going to truly miss my daily routine of IW. Enjoyed it David. But it is very good news that there will be more Roomies!. Enjoy your "vacation".

It's... actually over.

I have been reading ItsWalky since shortly after the beginning, just after Roomies ended. I had to check, but that was near the start of 2000. That means that every single day I was close to an internet connection (almost every day), for more than four years, http://www.itswalky.com has been the first bookmark I clicked.

Thank you Willis for the best web comic strip EVER and I hope that means something coming from one of the biggest addicts (I currently read seven comics every day and follow about forty different ones on a regular basis). It has been great, beautiful, exciting, heartwrecking, not to mention funny.

Thanks is but a word, but... thank you.

I'm really sad to have seen this comic end. I've read through Roomies and It's Walky four times now.
David Willis, you were the one that inspired me to start doing my own comic, and I'd be honoured if you'd do a crossover with me once you a storyline going.

*Imagines reformed SEMME teaming up with "The Classmates"*

Anyways you should have a nice well deserved rest.

All hail David Willis!

It's Walky is not really over... yet. There are still updates on the civilians hijinks of the cast.

You should read Shortpacked! if you enjoy David Willis' work.

There's also a spinoff to the IW! series called Joyce and Walky.

It's so far still the work of his that doesn't require you sign up to get any issues thereof, and if you don't you only get one day's issue a week!

But thankfully the original URL still works: http://www.itswalky.com !

Yeah, I'm reading that too, but it's just not the same... it's good, but it's not Walky.
