Civil (and not so civil) Discussions: PLEASE READ

The noble Order of the Knights of Jubal traces its origins back to the Year Two Thousand A.D., when a group of distinguished persons of good and true character, founded the order to promote chivalry and honour. The order takes its name from our leader, Alexander Jubal McRae, who on two (so far) occasions has been seriously injured, in one case fatally, defending an innocent woman from attackers.

As co-moderator with Jamie, I concur 100% with his sentiments. We have discussed this issue over private e-mail, and are united in our views.
It's been a sad coincidence that we have both been absent for the board over the last couple of weeks. Having said that, it's also irrelevant to the issue at hand.
The Order of Jubal was founded as an Order dedicated to Chivalry and respect for others. Based on these principles, most topics on this board have revolved around good deeds or religion. Personally, I see this as a good thing, because by sharing information and each other's perspective in an open and honest way, we encourage communication and understanding. However, this must be done in a respectful manner.
If you don't agree with what someone says, that's fine. It's also fine for you to say so. But it's wrong to make a personal attack (verbal or physical) on another person just because you think they're wrong.
Sir Jamie and I, along with the other Knights, have a responsibility to the Order and its members. To promote the ideals of Chivalry and to foster an open forum for communication and discussion.
However, Sir Jamie and I also have another responsibility. As moderators of a Keenspot Message Board, we must also enforce the Keenspot rules, which you (and we) have all agreed to when we registered with Keenspace. To quote from these rules:

quote:
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this BB to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

The terms "abusive", "harassing", etc. are rather subjective, but Sir Jamie and I have the final say. That's the way it is, and we're not going to make any apologies for that.
We've been very fortunate that, in a discussion group were such issues are discussed, neither of us have had to put on our Moderator hats. However, if we feel we must step in, we will.
If anybody wishes to discuss this further with us, please post here, or by private e-mail to us. Likewise, if there is anyone who feels offended or threatened by a posting on this board, you should e-mail both Sir Jamie and myself.
Regards,
Greg Bromage

This topic went over like a lead balloon. I didn't read it, so I can't comment on it, other than that it's popularity wasn't that great.
------------------

*grins* Jamie, do me one favor.. NEVER refer to yourself as God, I don't care if you call yourself 'a god' but.. It really annoys me when people say they are God.
As for the rest of your post.. What can I say? I have a hard time dropping something (usually when it's a case of no fact or proof given, just, basically, "I said so" arguments.) and, I just love a good arguement..
I've been trying to reign myself.. But, I'm not a very obidiaant horse..
Atleast, I'm genrally not crude, violent and insulting hough...

Oops. Sorry, guys. I'm used to all my informal arguments (i.e. not part of an actual tounament) being with the debate team, where scathing wit counts for as much as a valid point. I don't care for nasty, subtle jibes, so I tend to just plow through my bawling out the whole room and sticking in a few colorful remarks about their ancestrey in the process. I think I might have used the same tactics here once or twice (or three times, or four...), and I am sorry. Old habit is a poor excuse, and I'll try to clean it up in the future.
