Greetings!
As a recent fan of Cool Cat Studio, I just wanted to add my opinion on this subject. Perhaps it might be helpful or insightful, but all in all, it's just an observation. I appreciate and respect what Gisele has done with the strip, but I understand the origin of some of this criticism.
I've been fortunate enough to read every comic of CCS within the past week (god bless the T3 connection!), so the change in the strip was obvious to me. At first, the script was very light-hearted and cute. The punchlines were subtle and the characters were endearing - STAGE 1 if you will!
It then seems as though the characters where thrown into a pot and stirred, and mixed with some seasoning (Tony, Bones). There was much sexual tension, and an aura of reality was created. This is what I like to think of as the first Golden era! I definitely enjoyed this period most of all!
But then Michael's abduction and his new found power sent a sort of shock through my system. His green glowing hands reminded me of the Green Lantern. It was odd, but I was beginning to warm up to this storyline. Unfortunately, it came to a temporary halt with the death of Belinda's nana - another jolt in the machine. This storyline started out well. It was well written and flowed nicely until Bee and Liz landed in France. Then it became choppy and seemed rushed.
And Michaels abduction story rears it's head. Two of him? Explainable. Aliens? Possible. Lack of surprise by characters? Disconcerting. I know, I know, I know! It's only a comic strip...anything can happen! Maybe it was how fast I caroused the comic, but CCS became a very different. It had gone from an office sitcom to a season of X-Files. I still delight in reading the strip, but I truly miss the CCS office atmosphere! Where's Camun!? We haven't seen him in ages! But alas, I shall wait two more months! May the second Golden era begin!
Respectfully,
Krispy
P.S. I'm also anxious to see how Billy's birth affects the gang!
[This message has been edited by Krispy Kritters (edited 09-10-2001).]

I discovered CCS about a month ago. I believe Gisele has one of the sharpest artistic styles of any online comic strip. I DO agree that sometimes the stories meander but I feel the same way about Mark Trail, Prince Valient, Dick Tracy... in short, it's nearly impossible to tell a single coherent story when you can tell only a few seconds of it with each strip.
I don't doubt Gisele can take constructive criticism. I certainly see a maturing of both artistic and storytelling skills since the premier strips. (The heads have gotten a LOT smaller in relation to the bodies!) My own biggest criticism is that Liz has become too ordinary. I had a lot more fun with her when her motives, feelings, etc. WERE a mystery. She might still be a "woman of mystery" to Suck Face magazine but her motives are fairly open to the readers of CCS now. I'd like to see some new elements of a dark mysterious past here.

I'm sorry you didn't like the "alien abduction" story. I know it wasn't the greatest but there were "some" good pages in there.
As for my audience, most of them seem to still be visiting. I have close to 6000 hits a day and since this site isn't updating every day - that's not bad. I won't lie to you and say that I used to hit close to 8000 hits day, ....

Just for the record, I visit the site five days out of the week.. just in case the comic has changed. It's probably won't, but I have it in a list of a dozen other strips and I check them all.

Perhaps it's just that her head was in different proportions...
Can't wait for a return to traditional CSS, and will probably be back again in a couple of weeks Thanks for the comics, Gisele!
Kritter, happier, more productive.
