One of the more interesting compliments I've ever heard.

And yet, still have to agree that he did look good in pants. :P Of course, it could have also just been that snappy jacket and red tie.

Sigh... bedtime again for me... I wish I had more me-time.

Perhaps you mean to say "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" (although there is a school of thought which maintains that "if you can't beat 'em, make 'em join you" makes for a better adage)

Perhaps you are thinking of, "Hold your friends close, but hold your enemies closer."
