Bats in comics

Postby Won-Tolla on Wed May 07, 2003 11:07 pm

This was mentioned on a thread some time back and I was going to add this to it, but couldn't find it. Anyway here's another bat in another comic.

http://www.furrymilitia.net/index.php?id=6

It's pretty funny too. The comic, that is, not the bat (who only appears in this panel so far).

um, just a word of caution, Better Days is related to Badly Drawn Kitties which is a NC17 strip. Better days hasnt gone quite that far but may in the future.

If it makes you happy Batty, the comic I'm working on will eventually have a bat who is more-or-less a main character. Just don't ask when I will have the comic up and running, as I'm still working on my drawing skills :)

*Makes a mental note to ask Batty about the different types of bats when working on this particular character*

Oh, there's a bat in one of the storylines in Latex Blue, too.

She says my favorite line in the whole strip. It's not what she says, but how she says it.

(I'm speaking of course, of Revolution, Freedom.)

YAY!

That'll be two comics! I've scripted one and a friend will be drawing it. He's working on character sheets now. (it's a gag strip. Don't expect anything deep.)

I know a lot about Australian and Eurpean bats, but not a lot about American bats that aren't vamipres.

Speaking of bats with favourite lines, in "Mice and Mayhem" (linked elsewhere on this forum IIRC) my favourite joke is delivered by Foxglove. For those who have read it, I am of course (?) talking about the bit with the bats (!) in the cave...

My favorite bats are the ones that eat vampires, actually. Mosquitos, that is. We used to have quite a few around my house. Would have to hose down the cat so we could rescue them from her. Though it was funny to see Bear (my cat) attacking the Picnic Table Umbrella because a bat had taken refuge at the top.

And keeping the skeeter population down is a very good thing, in my book. :)

I can't believe that no one's mentioned Fenton of Kevin and Kell fame! and he's a semi-regular character!
Mikey + Lisa = happy snuggles!

It will not. The artist has already stated that he won't be touching that aspect of his characters, because they are underage in Better Days.

Here's a bat from The Gneech, too. It's not within the SJ strip, but is is canonical.

YAAAH! *Tackles the feline in the center of the room and once he's gone he smiles and sits down in the center* Much better. Since this is a bat topic, a bat should be in the center.

You may prey upon, so long as it is playful. Killing and eating are unacceptable.

No no, the pitcher's mound is in the center. The bat should be at the home plate.

On a mound in the center? :o

I'd rather keep the pitcher at the bar, so I don't have to walk so far to get a drink. 8)

May I suggest a trip to the local zoo? I don't know what is available to you in South Dakota, but in Seattle we had a fabulous Nocturnal House with about a dozen different types of bat. Main differences I can recall were size and diet. A library could be useful, too.
The felines are coming...
