I see what you mean. Theres a page 21 but theres no posts in it.
There's a table like that at Mcclosky's near where I live. It's open
like that and they put the returning dishes there. There's a cash
register on top too. It's got a computer screen. Inbetween the table
and the front door is a place where musicians can set up. The bar owner
often accompanies them on some numbers. He has about 50
harmonicas all tuned differently. Does the watering hole ever have
live music? I should go there and take digital pictures of the table.
I have a Cad program I can install now.

Ah, the old page flip bug. This should take care of it (and bump the thread as well. ;))

I have a Cad program I can install now.

Great, more competition. :D

Eeep! Not another thread with Abba quotes!

No no no, in the song it goes "I do, I do, I do, I do, I do." That was missing three "I do"s. I suppose two does count as a quote though. :P

That's not the reason for this post though. Nice work. This is very interesting stuff. That must take lots of dedication. I still read this. Yes, "I do I do I do I do I doooooooooo!" :D

History has changed around me so many times. I await official
word and then I will pretend that is what I remember.

You agree with me on the 2 "I do!" quote and that's all that matters.
I submit that commercial is where the phrase entered the venacular.

Time to rescue this old thread from slipping off the page again, so while everyone was getting ready for the swimsuit contest I slipped out the back and went over to the bar to tinker a bit with my now-over-a-year-old project again. That's right, my first post about it was in the middle of August last year...

Anyway, I started working on the TV. In the picture above you see the old box-and-rectangle marker to the left, a new box to the right of that and the new screen floating in the foreground. It doesn't look quite like the TV in the strip on the first page of this thread, but I tried to get the proportions of the screen right (4:3) and work outwards from there.

And here we are a few minutes later, with the screen scaled down and in place. It's a bit hard to see here, but unlike the old screen that is just a rectangle, the new one has some thickness and tapering edges. What you can see is that it's got rounded corners. Well, cut off diagonally anyway. Maybe I'll make them more rounded later, depends on how they look from a distance.

After getting this far I took a break to rearrange some files and came across that old "sprite" I used for the picture of Tiffany in the door. I decided to use it to demonstrate how I can put pictures on the TV screen; the result can be seen below.

Before the next round of tinkering I thought I'd have a look in the stage editor and see how the new object looks with the old one's settings.
Woo. I told you about axes didn't I? The old proto object obviously had some very different ones. See that brown pillar in the corner? That's the TV. And the white block on top of it is the screen. It's facing up rather than forward because of the way I twisted the whole bar after building the first proto objects.

Okay, scale the objects correctly and twist them right way up, and you get something more recognizable:

It's beginning to look like a TV again. (But I seem to have lost the picture on the screen. I'll have a look at that later...)
The screen proportions seem a little off but that is just because of the perspective. Here's the scene seen (!) from a more ordinary angle:

After another bit of tinkering the box is now the "right" colour. (Actually the box in the strip has many shades, I just picked the one that seemed most prominent.) And the corners of the screen are more rounded.

For my next trick I thought I'd modify the box to make room for controls on the side of the screen (as seen in the strip) without altering how the box looks from straight above. A bit of squashing the box, and shrinking the screen and moving it to the side did the trick. You can see the two versions together below.

Then again...

Maybe the lion makes enough to invest in a 16:9 widescreen TV?

This was done just by resizing the screen and lowering the box further; real WSTVs (?) look a bit different from this.

Oh, and if you wonder about the date on this one, I just recycled the post I bumped the thread with last time.

Which of course means I have to add a post to bump it this time.

Well, here I tried putting the different TVs into the environment to see how they look. Actually the widescreen would be bigger than this, they don't make them this small. Yet.
Apparently people who own TVs with small screens are supposed to be less concerned about 1/4 of the picture being black, than people whose screens are bigger anyway. Go fig...

Okay, now the server is really screwed up. Adding the second post on this page did not bump the thread, and when I look closer I find that the first post still has the delete button, and editing the second post added the "Last edited" line. In other words, the server thinks the first post on this page is the last post!
Now let's see what adding yet another post does...

Oh, and in case anyone's wondering about that "Last edited" bit, you can edit the last post in a thread without getting that line.

It's been a while since I did something silly on this thread, so I've had a little more fun with the widescreen TV and tried to put an image on the screen.

Image

I just took two profiles from the TV strip (see page 1 of the thread), played around a bit with them and put them in a fictive show that seems to be made for this format. ;)
And in case you didn't notice, I set the screen "bright" because TV screens normally give off some light when the TV is on.
To give you a better look at the box, here I have put it "on stage" in a different place from where the other TVs were earlier:

Image

(Here you can clearly see how "thick" the box is.)

Okay... now to see if posting this will straighten out the thread and bump it. *pushes the button and prays very fast*
