Watering Hole Floorplan

Postby The Gneech on Wed Aug 14, 2002 3:21 am

Hikaru asked me for this about a gazillion years ago, and I've recently received the request again, and decided I better get off my duff and do it. People inclined towards nitpickery will notice that it doesn't necessarily match the layout that appears in some of the strips, which I can only attribute to me being asleep at the wheel. So, if this map is inaccurate, it is at least definitively inaccurate.

The entrace to "Watering Hole-In-The-Wall" will be located between the interior and exterior wall of the alley, about halfway between the back door and the dart board; the interior will be narrow and about six feet long, and have an exit to the outside as well as the inside.

Oooh! Yaaaaay!

*Rips the diagram right off his monitor, gets out his strip and gets to work, careful not to cut himself on the glass*

That's funny, the picture just went black... ;)

Thanks, Gneech! *Hugs*

I guess my only thought is:

I see the Men's room and the Women's room, but...

I very rarely see men and women in the Watering Hole... :o

I don't know, every so often I find one that's paperless. :o

Now, whether it needs paper is a different question. :D

Well, I thought about just putting in a litterbox and a fire hydrant, but I figured that was too silly. ;)

I was in Washington DC for the Fourth of July, and along the Mall were large cardboard boxes with plastic liners for trash. Printed in large letters on the boxes were the instructions, "PLEASE USE LITTERBOX". :o

My immediate response was, "Sorry, I need a little bit more privacy."

*Giggles!* And was there sand in the boxes to weigh them down? ;)

And I'm still wondering about the coatrack.

And I'm also really bad about starting sentences with conjunctions.

But I'm getting better!

I hate to be nitpicky, but as this strip seems to indicate,

Image

the TV should be located over the other end of the bar, closest to the tables.

As far as doing a cad version of the bar, I can also do one. May do one anyway. :=3

Actually, that was one of the strips I used to decide where the tables actually were. If the TV were on the opposite side, the people sitting at the tables wouldn't be able to see the screen.

Yin and Tiffany are sitting at the table farthest to the left, Conrad is sitting on the middle stool, and the hinged access area of the bar has been left open. Leonard is actually standing on the far side of the prep table from Conrad ... you just can't tell from the perspective. 8)

That's what I thought... If the TV had been where LK thought it was, Leonard couldn't see it properly.

Anyway I don't know what plans the others have with the plan (!) but I've been playing around a bit with Imagine. So far I've got the walls looking OK from above.

Update two days later: Been doing a bit more work and added the sidewalk and sewers:

Progress report

Postby Won-Tolla on Thu Aug 22, 2002 10:25 am

Image

Another little update on my newest Imagine project. See page 1 for the first and second.

I'm making this a new post rather than edit the old for two reasons.
One, editing a post does not bump the thread.
Two, I remade a couple of objects from scratch, or at least from bitmap.

For the technically interested, I start each object by drawing straight lines on top of the original floor plan, then converting the new graphics into Imagine objects and extruding them. This gets everything into the correct relative scale and position.
The walls in this picture are really three extruded objects on top of each other, one with doors, one with doors and windows and one with neither. I redid the walls after I found that Imagine has problems with thin lines when converting bitmaps (so I made the walls thicker). I'll adjust the heights and merge the objects later, for the moment I'm working on step one of getting all the bits and pieces converted into some kind of object to start working with.
Guess I'll have to start looking for pictures of what things look like from the side sooner or later...
