Favorite Characters...

Hmm... after much thinking, I believe that I will award Oswold and Numth' Kul the prestige and honor of being my favorite supporting characters.

Oswold is conservative (yay), a stern law enforcer, and represents any and all kinds of authority that all of us have dealth with in some way or another. Some of you might notice the mannerisms of a grade school teacher/student relationship between Oswold and Bruno. Oswold is ever ready to correct Bruno when he misbehaves, and "tough guy" Bruno is reduced to a scared-stiff little kid whenever the two meet. Oswold is seemingly impervious to any attacks from Bruno (save for a few cases), much like a teacher/student.... a relationship where the authoritive figure always triumphs (unless we're talking L.A. school districts).

Thumbs up to Oswold for being a hard-assed police dude.

Numth' Kul, though an "evil" character, is simply a stooge. A well mannered one. Yeah, he wants to turn humanity into a seething ball of red jelly, but before he'll ever do this, he'll be your polite and obedient bartender and clerk at the deli. That's just funny.

Of course, with every appearance of Numth' Kul, his nemesis, *forgot-his-name-Bruno's relavite* appears and annoys the living daylights out of Bruno. Numth' Kul adds a lot of flavor to the strip, in both direct and indirect ways.

man, hard choices.... i also like numth'kul - he's just so evil, without managing to be sucessful - gotta like that. and carlin is about the only holy man i could consider actually following. and shub, of course, the ultimate single mother. but i gotta vote for eunyce. any woman who can keep ambrose and bruno in line, and still be a warrior hottie at her age, you gotta respect. (really - because she'll probably pound you if you don't)

i also like ambrose's cat, but he hasn't been getting much airtime lately.

At least you remembered that he was an 'uncle'... I'd forgotten that and was too lazy to look it up as well...

Either way you know he'll get flattened in the end... which actually might be a good thing for the queen too.

My two favorite characters are Carlin and Dibunker:
Although I'm an atheist, I must admit that I admire Carlin from a morale perspective, all religious considerations put aside: He's one of those super-moral characters that are so hard to find outside the realm of fiction (Some less extreme exemples on Keenspot would be Richard Oberf from Fans and Nicholas Wellington from GPF). Besides, he knows how to be happy no matter what, or almost - an admirable trait if there is any.
Dibunker may come across as dogmatic, but we have seen him admit his mistakes at the end of "The Heart of Arihperson". He's a sceptic like me, which is something that you just don't expect in a world like the Bruno the Bandit universe. He relies on reason and logic to understand his world, and even if he makes mistakes, he can learn from them - and he seems to be the only character here with this ability! I hope we'll see him again.
Of course, Dibunker isn't on the list, so I guess I'll vote for Carlin. And just for the record, my favorite character aside from those two is Fionna.
