it's one of those ancentral flutes - before they evolved into the flute, the piccolo, the clarinet/saxophone clan, and the celtic war pipes.

(although if you take note of the background, you can see where this particular pipe is heading)

well, they could probably use a little polish, at least.

actually, i just looked him up - actually them. there appear to be 5 sts. crispin (two of them brothers), along with a st. crispinian and a st. crispina. some subsection of them appear to be associated with cobblers....i guess the kind with the crispy streusel topping....
