Just to let everyone know that we survived in one piece, but it was touch-and-go for a while there. :grumble:

I'm sorry Limax, I wasn't aware something was going on with you. Glad all is OK.

FWIW, Jeff's sister is OK. She goes to VT. Had quite a scary Monday. One of the professor/victims was the dad of one of her Girl Scouts, and another was a former student from where she taught a few years ago at a high school in VA. I'm just glad she's safe.

Nah... just Disneyland. The kids were freaking out in the lines because they were afraid of what was going to happen to them on the rides. :grumble:

Wow... I'm glad that she is as well. Hugs out to her and the people she knows.

let me guess - then you and your wife freaked out because you discovered there's souvenir stand at the end of every ride.

That was just part of it. :smug: Also, did you know there's no wombats in Disneyland? That's a travesty.

I can't believe we haven't posted anything in here since May! For shame!

Anyway! Limax! I stopped at a dollar store after lunch to pick up a roll of wrapping paper, and there it was, the cleaner Limax! Jeff got a pic with his camera phone. And of course I had to buy it. So, now all I need to know is, do you want me to ship it to you with the cleaning fluid inside, or just an empty bottle? :D

Also, while at said dollar store, my phone rang. My sister called to let me know that her house (that is so crazy with Christmas decorations it's not even funny) is now on YouTube. As soon as I get the link, I'll include it. They are the next generation of Griswalds.

So Ian has asked, so shall it be!

Was this about anything in particular, or did everyone just post randomly?

It doesn't appear to have been anything in particular, but I haven't read the whole 50 pages yet...

Yeah, I'm not about to read 50 pages of anything when i have to setup my D&D group to go through the Skyed caves of Elyiaan mountains.

So why don't you finish and tell me if we're off-topic afterwards?

I don't think we could ever really be on-topic, let alone off-topic for this thread...

Actually, I think the last post was probably the most on-topic yet, although I never realised The Beatles did that one (I grew up believing it was the Carpenters... curse it, and it's children, and it's children's children's children's cousin's children... or something... darn it I feel betrayed and lied to, if only a tiny bit)

The Beatles, the Carpenters, and a lot of other groups have recorded that song. The first group to play it, back in 1961, were called "The Marvelettes."

The beatles did a lot of songs involving a postman. The only ones I can remember at the moment are Postman, bring me no more blues and Please Mr. postman.
But besides that, they used the post a lot . . . No Reply mentions it, All my loving was about it countless others I can't really remember at the moment.
I was always more into collecting the pirate albums than I was into the official albums, though.

I love my classes. ^_^

Except for the part where i taught myself this material ages ago from textbooks I stole from my local library, and some lectures are therefore boring as heck.

It's just infuriating to hear my linear algebra prof throw out terms like, topological space, and metric space, and natural one-to-one correspondence, and know that no one besides me and the prog know what any of those terms are, because basic set theory, where you learn that stuff, is next year's course.

And most of these people, being engineers, physicists, applied mathematicians, will never take set theory, and in many cases, never go further than this course.

So does this mean I've come along just in time to nab the 1000th post? Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, it does. Now...onward and upward to 2000.
Ian...your cockles warm yet?
