Also nice that at least some of these jokes are this "easy" to get, requiring "only" a bit of slightly advanced math, and not specifically any nukee stuff. (I figure all you'd need is a vague idea of the existence of polar coordinates to deduce that they make dealing with circles easier, and thus translate Gav's statement to "he likes doing things the hard way" -- no knowledge of Maxwell's Equations, or even much of calculus, required.)

Reasonably sure that's just a change of "camera angle". they're standing right by a archway in the second pannel, and the portal in the last pannel is also arched.
