OT, but... why are you quoting the opening of Chauncer in your sig
?

I ask primarily because i went to this school where we had to memorize the first 40 lines in one english class and everyone from it is prone to quoting that line, wondeirng if other people had similar expiriences... or if its just random... or what... (school was in CT, USA).

So just where in the Nutmeg State were you? I'm originally from Stamford, and went to Stamford High 1982-1986, after they closed Rippowam the first time... and yes, we had to study The Canterbury Tales, too, in junior year, and while memorization wasn't required, everyone I know recognizes the lines in question.

Isn't it normally a bad thing when computers go all pear-shaped?

I mean, what if it were a peart of some sort of pear-to-pear network?

Couldn't it make pearsonality theft all the more easy?

OK, I'll stop now.

But I can't promise to do so pearmanently.

Oh, I was forced to memorize it in High School in Augusta, GA. This was not a normal practice in Augusta, but it stuck with me. I find myself quoting it in various accents including Southern, Scottish, and Televangelist.

..of which, engendred, vertu is the fleure.

(Or something like that. Been a long time for me, too! But mine wasn't for school, just recreation. I must be sick.)

I don't know about that. I decided to learn the first song of the Illiad by heart at some point (actually I just got tired of it after the first) - not in the original Greek, sadly.
