What does it say under the picture in the window?

It looks like "...oirg" to me. Part of it is obscured by Luca.

I could be wrong, but I think it's "Saint George". The figure with the spear certainly looks like it's standing over the body of a slain dragon.

That's why King Luca and Cecilia have been arrested - PETA successfully tracked down King Luca as the last surviving descendant of St George, and are charging him with his ancestor's crime of genocide for killing the last dragon. :D

...we must grab Luca, find where his ancestor buried the body, and thru horrid abuse of genetic cloneing, return dragons to the enviroment....

Will be intresting to see what nature lovers do when loving nature requires reinforced armor and fire proof underware.

What do you mean? Luca has had a spear since his very first appearance in the comic.

That leads to a question: What's a "suzereign"?

Ps.
Am I right in thinking it was before Suzy and Luca got together?

A portmanteau of "suzerain" and "sovereign"?

Am I right in thinking it was before Suzy and Luca got together?

I think so. She appears to be "something new" here: http://www.nukees.com/d/19970903.html

It's a mispelling. I've been meaning to go back and correct those. I know I've done it more than once. Hopefully, OhNoRobot will help me find them all.

I learned "suzerain" from reading Peanuts long long ago, but I misremembered how to spell it, apparently.

And yeah, KL and Suzy Gee hooked up later.

Why did Gav give King Luca the spear?

I'd assume that it was either 1) Part of an evil plot or 2) a joke.

Knowing Gav, it's the former.

I decided to look up "Suzerain", after all this discussion. Note the spelling in the 1807 Butler quote.

From the Oxford English Dictionary onilne:

[quote]Suzerain
[ad. F. suzerain, older s(o)userain, app. f. sus above, up (:--L. susum, sursum, f. sub from below, up + vorsum, versum, pa. pple. of vertere to turn), after souverain SOVEREIGN.]

A feudal overlord. In recent use, with reference to international relations, a sovereign or a state having supremacy over another state which possesses its own ruler or government but cannot act as an independent power.
1807 C. BUTLER Revol. Germany III. (1812) 53 The king was called the Sovereign lord; his immediate vassal was called the Suzereign; and the tenants holding of him were called the arri

Of course, I was invoking the 200-year-old spelling! King Luca is, after all, an archaic being. :smug:

Sounds like he's trying to have archaic and eat it too...
