Problems accessing Newshounds

Postby BlueAloe on Sun Jan 19, 2003 10:17 am

I haven't been able to get to to http://www.newshounds.com for about three days. I get a "could not connect to server" error. Is anyone else having this problem?

Nope. Been connecting fine for me.

Then again, I've been hearing reports of DNS outages every now and again recently. Maybe your ISP was effected?

I've had no problems myself, but it looks like some folks are having the same problem with "General Protection Fault" and "It's Walky". Jeff Darlington says Keen's doing something with multiple servers, so maybe that's involved. Details in this thread.

Hey Emily... I put in a word to the Keenspot maintenance folkses. As Tim mentioned, others are having problems too. Hopefully they can work on that and why Keenspace is down suddenly.

Me again... Jeff Darlington in his GPF forum just posted an explanation for the difficulties:

Okay, here's the deal, as best as we know: Keenspot is trying to implement a new multiple-server load balancing scheme. GPF has been moved to the new server, as has It's Walky and the other strips that folks are having problems with. Apparently, this new machine is having some sort of routing problem; at the same time, all of Keen is having DNS problems. This is why some folks are having problems while other people are getting in fine.

The Tech Crew is on the case. I've passed on some of the traceroutes I've been sent, so it looks like all we can do now is wait. Sorry.
