Just a lil bit. Just this once. It can't do any harm.

Really LOUD hold music... And a really quiet rep on the line, so I have to keep the volume up high to hear what he is saying when he comes back on the line.

People that don't understand that no one wants to hear them talk all about their recent bodily functions. My friend's new bf is one of these people.

Tell him that you're happy for his exciting new hobby.

Ask for pictures so you can post them online.

Then do it.

Bummer.

Not all the troops are in the worst of it all the time.

Maybe he'll luck out.

Don't take the 'Goodbye forever' tone with him tho--you'll creep him out big time and he'll fall all over himself.

Uhh it isn't THAT cousin that I'm thinking about, is it?

Either way, family is family. I hope he makes it back ok.

Being back to work for two weeks and having the wife turned away at the doctor's office because our insurance carrier can't confirm our enrollment.

Bummer.

Nothing serious, I hope.

Doc thinks it's just a stomach flu.

The horror is more about the broken benefits process at my "new" company. (My old employer was bought by a bigger company while I was gone.)

I should be happy to have insurance, but in all my experience, it's never been this hard getting/demonstrating coverage.

well, having insurance isn't much help if you can't actually use it.

and ick, buyouts - one never knows what one is in for. hope it all gets settled soon.

If your erstwhile compatriots were grandfathered in on their coverage, you should also be covered. Check around--you may have recourse.

I have coverage, but the process is borked.

The "merger" completed May 1st. All the employees who were originally part of MyComany stayed under the existing insurance plan until the open enrollment period for NewCompany (July). Our old carrier is no longer a choice with NewCompany.

Since I wasn't being covered by MyCompany's insurance while I was gone, and I wasn't here for the open enrollment period, I had to elect new coverage when I returned to work. They do it all over the web. Problem is, someone had to change my record to make me eligible to elect new coverage since open enrollment was over. That took over a week. Once I made the election, they have to send everything to the new insurance company. That process takes about a week. I don't get a card for a couple weeks after that.

All of my previous "new hire" experiences involved electing medical coverage during inprocessing, and being given a temporary card until my permanent one arrived. I'm just appalled that two weeks after coming back to my old job, my wife has hassles in the doctor's office because no one, not her, not my HR/Benefits folks, not the insurance company can demonstrate to the doctor's front office staff that she is insured.

It's mostly moot, now. They saw her, and told her just to bring over the card when we get it so they can get the info they need and submit the claim.

Someone showed a flash of common sense over bureaucracy!

Send 'em a thank you card quickly; they'll be gone soon!
