The Sinfest Coloring Contest - YEAR FOUR [Read First Page]

Postby Bodhisattva on Fri May 13, 2005 9:57 am

Welcome back, folks, for the Sinfest Coloring Contest. This year, we're running things a bit differently. Make sure that you read the first page, as it will have all the rules and submission times for this year. Refer to it whenever you have questions. We all know that there are a lot of you out there who think you've got mad photoshoppin' skills (or Paint Shop Pro or Gimp or whatever graphics program you choose to use), so here's your chance to show 'em off! Your goal is to dig up one comic strip out of the Sinfest archives and fully colorize all four panels. If the panel isn't fully colored, you'll be disqualified! Post your submission in this thread, and the Sinfest community will vote on who's got the best. The winner will get the "Viewer's Choice Award".

The Rules:
  1. You may submit no more than one (1) entry for judging. Your first entry will be the only entry accepted for judging. If you choose to do more than one (1) for fun, feel free, but please post them in a separate post after your entry. Remember, only the first entry will be accepted.
  2. Each panel must be rendered in full color. Black and white entries are acceptable as long as we can tell that you actually "colored" the strip fully. [Qualification - Year 4]
  3. You may not color outside the four (4) panels. Sorry, you've got to stay within the lines. The only exception to this is if you choose to color the Sinfest logo located in the upper left-hand area of the strip.
  4. You may not alter the comic in any way, you may only apply color to it. There is an exception to this covered in Rule #8. Remember, this is Mr. Ishida's intellectual property we're messing with, here. Alterations includes adding text to the image (i.e. Colored by, sinfest.net/20031219, etc...) or altering the original line art. [Slight Change - Year 4]
  5. Once you have posted your entry, you may not alter it.
  6. You may use effects.
  7. You must include the original title of the strip (found on the archives page) along with a link to the strip and the date that the strip was first shown in your post. If your strip choice is not yet named in the archives, your strip will not be disqualified, but you must correctly name your strip if at all possible. [Slight Change - Year 4]
  8. Because of the increasing popularity of animated strips, you may animate your strip. However, it will not be entered in the regular Sinfest Coloring Contest poll. If there are two or more animated strips for the month, I will set up a poll for the Animated Sinfest! Contest [BRAND NEW!], however, you must post the strip in its four-panel form as it is presented online. You're making an animated image, not a flash movie. [New Rule - Year 4]
All entries must be posted in this thread [starting at 12:00PM (GMT -6:00) Central Time (US & Canada)] within the following dates:
  • May - Saturday the 13th through Saturday the 20th.
  • June - Saturday the 10th through Saturday the 17th.
  • July - Saturday the 8th through Saturday the 15th.
  • August - Saturday the 12th through Saturday the 19th.
  • September - Saturday the 9th through Saturday the 16th.
  • October - Saturday the 14th through Saturday the 21st.
  • November - Saturday the 11th through Saturday the 18th.
  • December - Saturday the 9th through Saturday the 16th.
  • January 2007 - Saturday the 13th through Saturday the 20th.
  • February 2007 - Saturday the 10th through Saturday the 17th.
  • March 2007 - Saturday the 10th through Saturday the 17th.
  • April 2007 - Saturday the 14th through Saturday the 21st.
All entries must be submitted by 12:00PM (GMT -6:00) Central Time (US & Canada). Entries submitted outside of the elapsed time will not be accepted. This gives you one (1) week to find your strip, color it, and post it.

After the elapsed time, I will set up a new thread with a poll so that you can vote on your favorite coloring job and determine who wins this coloring contest! Also, to anyone who has not yet recieved their award banner, please Private Message me with your e-mail address. Your banners are ready and waiting for you. I wish you all good luck!

[added]Whoops, my bad. I even had it in the name of my stirp so I wouldn't forget... well, I'ma Dunce.[/added]

Alright, my entry for May.

I feel I did a nice light colouring, which I suppose is my style now...rather than raging colours shifting through the spectrum.

Anyways, Pooch is white, as he is supposed to be I guess (as I can't think of him as anything but white) and I left the text white for the first time, as I didn't feel the need to colour it. Also, it lends to an effect.

IT IZ ART!

Edit: Removed Kirby in the first image cause it was against the rules. Thanks for Neph and Jedi for pointing that out for me.

You have to list either the date of the original strip or the title of the strip, else your coloring will be disqualified, as per rule #7, listed in bold red letters.

Invisible Queen: Very nice! It looks like it was colored with crayons. :)

I've just about recovered from my colouring depression at losing last month. Robbed. Robbed I tell you. I don't hold out much hope for this month, but if you don't try, I guess you don't get anywhere!
