Does anybody actually get the Game Show Network? I live in envy of people whose cable companies carry things like that.
------------------

One summer in college I worked manning the main campus switchboard (it was every bit as lame as it sounds) and the other people there always had a TV on and it always seemed to be running "Press Your Luck".
It warms the cockles of my heart to read this story about how a guy figured out the system and took em to the proverbial cleaners.
It also wamrs the cockles of my heart to say "cockles". Oh, and I think "The Proverbial Cleaners" would be a pretty cool name for a dry-cleaning establishment.
I vaguely remember that there was a show called "Card Sharks" and I even vaguely recall some commercial for it (featuring either animated sharks or guys in shark suits; I'm a little fuzzy on that). But I don't remember the show it's ownself. What wuz it like?
------------------

"We asked 100 bouncers if they
had ever had someone too big to deal with.
What number said, 'yes'?"
The first person would offer some long-ass
explanation for a guess, then guess a
number, then the second would offer some
long-ass explanation, then gesticulate wildly
while saying "higher!" or "lower!"
Then whoever did better got to guess whether
the next playing card was higher or lower.
If you got (5?) cards across the board, you
won.
------------------

My favorite game show was Liar's Club. It didn't last very long, though. Ah, the days of good TV. Man. Gilligan's Island on syndication over breakfast every day, and Battlestar Galactica on (I think) Thursday evenings. Wow.
------------------

Had a real love/hate relationship with Bumper Stumpers.
Mainly hate...
And being Canadian, I remember Definition with great fondness. All the prizes were from an office-supply manufacturer named Brother. It was funny to watch the winners' mingled expressions of delight at winning with the crushing disappointment of having won a pen set after five weeks on the damn show.
------------------
