Obscure ref nobody got?

Cannot be described through mere words.

Sometimes (OK, usually), I'll make a joke that I think is a laugh riot but which nobody gets because it relies on something really obscure and random that nobody in their right mind can be expected to know. Last fall I committed possibly the worse example:

Besides the "Ringworld" characters? I'm missing it. :/

Aw, I was afraid nobody'd got it. It's inspired by Peter Fonda's semi-famous rant in "The Wild Angels" (see http://us.imdb.com/Title?0061189 and also http://www.motorworld.com/features97/wheels_reels/Welcome.html ):

Aw shoot. To paraphrase Peter Fonda in *another* movie, "I blew it."

------------------

I'm not sure anybody has seen that movie...it's one of those films with a classic scene that many people know, but nobody knows anything about the rest of it. Another example would be "Five Easy Pieces"; we all know that bit where Jack Nicholson tells the waitress to hold the chicken between her knees, but that's about it.

quote:

Maybe I didn't ? The 3rd panel sorta sounds like Star Trek and the 4th panel "Plus we wanna get loaded" I thought was just funny for its own sake. Sorta like if Captain Kirk was being honest his little monologue on Star Trek would have ended "Plus I'm really looking forward to scoring with the alien hotties"
------------------

Hey, I was just really happy with the Ringworld references. I laughed really hard about that. And then couldn't explain it to my friend that originally got me reading the strip.
