I don't believe it.

I didn't want to believe it. But then I checked the obits at NYTimes.com.

You will be missed, Mr. Ritter. Rest in peace.

It warms my heart to know that I'm not the only one mourning John Ritter.

I miss John Ritter

I drew my reaction to the news within minutes after I'd heard it on TV.

The internet is weird.

I am indifferent to Johnny Cash

Postby Chris Crosby on Fri Sep 12, 2003 6:59 pm

I would've drawn a tribute strip to Johnny Cash if I gave a crap about him while he was alive.

I am now glad he is in heaven with his wife, though.

I would not do tribute strip to Johnny Carson if he died, but I would feel sad.

The main thing that justified doing the Ritter strip is that this storyline was mostly inspired by STAY TUNED, a 1992 movie starring John Ritter. That made the whole thing particularly creepy.

John Ritter's poop tasted like candy. Turns out, it's a symptom!

So the Devil is going to make Chris participate in a bad parody of "Wayne's World"? Man, that Satan's a wily one.

I was more depressed by Johnny Cash's death, as I have enjoyed some of his music, whereas John Ritter, I had to look up to remember who he was, and then I said, "oh yeah, the Three's Company guy. That's too bad."

Still, I vote as the worst celebrity death I've been witness to: Phil Hartman. I remember it followed up Chris Farley's death by like a month, except Phil Hartman's death was about ten times more unexpected and I enjoyed him approximately twice as much. Poor Phil Hartman. Phil Hartman is one of those versatile actors that, if he had stuck around a little longer, eventually a few good directors would have realized what he was really capable of and he would have been making all kinds of films, kind of like Bill Murray is now. I love Bill Murray. I can't wait to see Lost in Translation.

Oh well. Why is it that cool celebrities die too early but annoying ones stick around forever?

Wouldn't it make more sense if Pluto was closer to us? After all, Pluto is the Roman God of Death. I hate that stupid iceball so much. Why haven't we blown it up yet? It's not even a real planet! It turns out there are a million little ice chunks out there beyond Neptune, which probably didn't have anything to do with the formation of the rest of the solar system, so I submit that Pluto should be exploded.

I agree that Johnny Cash's death was less surprising than John Ritter's. Some people decide they want to stick around after their wife/husband dies... and, well, some don't. I don't blame them.

Still, it is kind of depressing thinking that Johnny Cash died of a broken heart... I guess that's not as sad as thinking about John Ritter's wife and children though. Sigh. Death sucks.

What a stupid universe.

He'd best not if he knows what's good for him. "The Love God?" is one of the finest films ever made.

Well, aside from the weird "hitting women" thing. But other than that, it's spectacular.

Did this storyline end differently before John Ritter's death?

I heard that Chris had originally planned to have Boardy and Chris accidentally kill John Ritter while inside the television, but the ending was deemed insensitive in these modern times.

I told Chris Boardy should pull a 'Fantastic Voyage' and crash
into the twin towers of Ritters heart!

Then afterwards at the celebration party, Chris and Boardy eat Johnny Cash's bones while singing the national anthem in reverse (singing the national anthem in reverse would obviously un-create the United States and a veil of chaos and hate would fall over our landmass). Then they drink Jesus' blood. Not his metaphorical wine-blood, but they time-travel and bring Jesus to modern times, and stab a tap into his chest, so they have Jesus' real-blood on tap. Then Chris realizes he is gay and runs away to Canada so he can marry his lover, George W. Bush. And then the final scene of the series is a shot of Adolf Hitler in heaven, playing a harp. I smell an Oscar!
