a meteor half the size of the Earth suddenly slams into the Pacific, creating massive tidal waves all over the planet, flooding continents, while ash and soot coat the atmosphere, blocking out the sun and causes an ice age, and all of humanity and life as we know it ceases to exist.

Out of the post primordial ooze crawls a tiny creature. Gasping for air, it collaspes on the muddy bank of a river.

50 million years after the last shudder of the impact passes, a part of the meteor, which has some how miraculously survived seemingly untouched by time sprouts what we would recognize as tank tracks. There is a distant rumble as if a diesel engine were starting. Suddenly the huge rock lurches forward, dragging itself through mud, muck and sand, as is an intelligence were directing it toward firmer ground. It reaches a rise in the surrounding plain and stops. One particularly prominent bump in the surface slowly turns, first clockwise, the counter-clockwise. There is a muffled thumping coming from inside the meteor fragment as well as a noise that sounds strangely like cursing. Soon there is a crack in the surface of the stone that slowly widens allowing a humaniod face to peer out. A long fingered hand slips through the opening and pushes the portal fully open. The face is wrinkled and hairy, more of ape than human. Still, the eyes shine with prenaturnal intellect as they glance around at this new world freshly discovered. The eyes stop and sparkle as the light on the one object sought. The chimp scrambles out of the rocky conveyance and climbs to the top. "There he is" the creature thinks to itself with glee. Making itself comfortable, the chimp begins to fling poo at J. "Take that you..." it squeals in delight. :D :P :D :D

extraterrestrials happen by while out cruising the universe, see the dismay that walks the earth and decide to put the poor pathetic planet out of it's misery, promptly blowing it up while no one's looking.

The Great Wisdom of All Ages gathers the dice and throws for a do over. Ha. A natural 20. Nobody has any saving throws, so everybody reverts to ameobas.

Given the fact that wearing a bullet proof vest does not help you at all if your shot between your eyes, the historians brains splatter all over the amoebas.

The bullet bounces off the vest worn over the face and ricochets around the trees for 5 minutes before dropping harmlessly to the the forest floor.
