Is it sick that I kind of hope to someday create works of fiction that inspire similar insanity?

It's not insanity, it's having fun. :P

(And it's midichlorians, I think, Rags. Although they don't deserve to be spelled correctly. GAH! What was Lucas THINKING?)

To be able to inspire that kinda following... Now that would be more than talent, that would be a skill. Not to mention the fact it would make ya loads of money. ok was that last, a thought of a civilised person? i kinda feel like i've degraded myself.
Awesome.

I'm not aspiring to any particular creators talents. Rather I aspire to be among those creators who make a peice of work that people model themselves after. Aside from Lucas and Heinlin that list would include guys like Rodenberry and Tolkien among others. The weird thing is that if I ever came across a group of people that took my work that seriously I'd probably be weirded out by them possibly to the point of looking down at them. That's what's so sick about it, a part of me wants to inspire goofy nutcases with a peice of work that they'd be willing to base their life on, but I wouldn't want to meet someone like that.

I can't really fault you for that, because in a small way, if I were to ever achieve any sort of fame, I'd want it to be something along the same lines. I mean, you make stuff because in some way you want to touch or change people's lives. This sort of response is the apex of that.

I just think the Church of All Worlds is much cooler than the whole Force thing (what's their church called? Is it just Jedi.. uh.. ism?) Rest assured I wasn't referring to talent. I should've said Heinlein's followers are cooler than Lucas's.

On the last british concensus that we had loads of people put jedia down for their religion - so i think its now a uk religion or something, not sure, but you can bet that some people weren't joking about that. - do you reakon its offensive to people who are big followers to have people who aren't joke around about it?
Awesome.

Yeah, perhaps even more offensive than people pointing out that they're part of a made up religion from a movie.

Its true. It takes like either 500 or 5000 (oh im so specific) people to put it down for it to become a legal religion that has to be taken into consideration, as like a church of jedi or something. Only problem is that i think now they have to pay taxes.

Oh God. PLEASE tell me you're joking. Tell me you don't belong to a church founded by a sci-fi writer. Tell me you don't belong to a church that believes that we're infested with the spirits of ancient aliens killed by the hydrogen bomb attacks of an evil alien warlord. Tell me you didn't actually read Dianetics all the way through and believe it.
