Turn 6

"Well, I don't see why you give a shit, but my name is Drooblegums McWindbag Felldon A. Hole. Dave."
"Wow, your parents were just FULL of imagination weren't they"
"Shut the hell up."
"Also, Stubby, consider that the price of healing is likely to increase if you keep acting like that, and then without somebody to heal your wounds, you'll probably be stuck slowly inching your way to your certain demise, without a single drop of rum to ease your sorrows. Oh, the rum! Oh, the sorrows!

Anyway, let's go. Lead on!"

You shove Dave ahead of you and follow the winding corridor downwards for what feels like hours. Then again, you've got no real idea of how much time has passed since you've been down here and it's not like you've got brilliant company... Anyway, after a while you hear the sound of running water up ahead. It smells vaguely like sewage but it does remind you of how thirsty and hungover you still are...

Image

Eventually the passageway opens out into a wider cavern where you find a large underground pool. It smells pretty bad.

Have Dave test the water, and heal him, because he probably will get sick.

<ahem> Let's call that the widening out of the tunnel you came down and pretend I can draw better :) There's no other passageways over that side.

Yeah, examine the room: look beheind the waterfall, look up where the water comes in, get Dave to taste test the water. If we have, or can find any kind of container, we could instead cast purify water on the container and drink from that. We can Make a crude container out of a shirt and some mud, or cast a low level create object spell to get us a clay jar. But we still need to have Dave examine the water since something probably lurks in it.

(BTW, when Dave said he'd kill us when we sleep, after we healed him, he pretty much eliminated any trust or concern I have for him.)

Turn 7

>Have Dave test the water

"All right Dave it's your time to shine! You're on tasting duty."
"Are you fucking serious? All the waste water in the city runs down here! The entire sewage system is basically a series of gutters, drains and pipes leading into cracks in the ground which drain into the sodding labyrinth. This whole place is one giant midden for a city load of people, animals and monsters like you. So no. You drink it."
"<ahem> Yes I'm fucking serious, now drink or I'll shove you in. I still have your dagger mind..."
"Seriously. I really hate you."

Image

Dave tastes the water and promptly spits it back out again.

"Well, it's certainly a mature vintage. There's a hint of urine on the nose followed by an enchanting bouquet of the rich, meaty tang of raw sewage, all rounded off nicely by a slightly chewy texture from whatever that green shit is. Happy?"
"Smart arse. Still, I was mostly expecting you to be eaten by SOMETHING in there... What's the deal with the monsters in this place? Or does everyone just stab themselves and have done with it? "

>Send the light bulb into the sewage

"All right, light bulb, you're up. Go and check out the pool would you?"
"Yaaaaaaay! A job! Weeeeee! ...What's a light bulb?"
"Just go. Please."

Image

The wisp drops into the pool. After a few moments you can't see any light from the wisp at all, but the cavern continues to glow a pale green. It looks like it's coming from some kind of algae on the walls. After another few minutes the wisp comes back.

"Well?"
"Look! Look! No, really! Look under the water! There's a tunnel under there boss! I couldn't tell how far it goes because I couldn't make it all the way to the end, but it didn't seem to be very long! You should LOOK!"
"No monsters in there then?"
"Nope nope nope! "
"Hmmm. Where the hell is everything then? I thought this place was meant to be guarded by ferocious beasts..."

>Check behind the waterfall for easter eggs any secret passages.
>look up where the water comes in

Image

You climb around the pool as far as you can and look at the wall behind the waterfall. It's covered in a disgusting looking green slime but there are no passages that you can see. You look up to try and see where the water is coming from but it quickly disappears into darkness, even with help from the wisp.

Send Dave into the cave. Also before he goes, comment on how his name rhymes with cave. While he's gone, cover the dagger in some glowing moss to make an awesome OrcMonster-sensing dagger.

I would send in Dave alone but if he finds something he might pocket it/hide it from us.

Considering it's sewage and that we're with a guard, there may be a way to reduce the amount we have to intake of it by going down the other path, even if we still have to go through it.

Turn 8

>Go over in your mind what spells you know today.

Ach... You can never remember what spells you've got prepared...

"On your hand, Shuuck!"
"Dammit shut- Oh yeah, right..."

Image

You always write your spells on your hand in case of emergencies, and sure enough, there's the spells you prepared for the diplomatic mission... Oh yeah- Charm! Man, that would have been useful yesterday! Maybe if you'd remembered that, you wouldn't have had to get thrown down here in the first place...

>Cover the dagger in some glowing moss to make an awesome OrcMonster-sensing dagger

Image

You get to work smearing some of the green stuff all over the blade. Awesome! You're pretty sure it'll keep glowing whether there are monsters around or not, but maybe you'll get lucky and poison something.

>Go into the next cave, not the water. Keep Dave in front of us.

"Ok Dave, into the cave!"
"Lol! It rhymes!"
"It sure does!"
"Oh shut the hell up, PLEASE!"

Image

You follow the winding passage onwards as it gradually slopes upwards again. You notice the air here smells quite damp and the ground is becoming a bit muddier compared to the other caverns. Eventually you come to a crossroads.

"Oooooh! LOOK! A skull! A SKULL! ...Do you think he's dead?"
"Gods I don't deserve this..."

----------------

INVENTORY: 1 Throwing rock, 1 Hitting rock, 1 slime-covered (probably poisonous) dagger.
WEARING: Blood-stained city guard uniform (light armour), trousers, snazzy boots.
SPELLS: Wisp (active), Cure Minor Wounds (cast once), Iron Skin, Smite!, Charm.

Have Dave pick up the skull and paint it with the red stuff (sewage) and put it on Dave's head.
And have him arm himself with the bone.
