No, he wouldn't. I already did the math for you m0rt. The most he profits from this is 1200 gold, and you're calling him greedy.

He's handling your money transfer.
He pays out 10800 gold to the winner.
The input that was given to him is 12000. You say he should give out more money than he can make from handling your bet by saying he would gain 9000. He gains nowhere in that range.

Yes, what he's saying is off. He probably means he will give you 9000 back if you win, which still makes a bigger gap than the way we suggested.

The way you said it, you're not taking into account the money is already given to you, asks. Giving him 3000 is taking half of what he bet if he wins. You giving him 9000 is a more accurate way of saying it, as you're repaying his bet plus the amount he won.

Yeah, I wouldn't take that bet. It would mean I'd think I had over a 66.6... % chance of winning the bet. (Beating m0rt or kraken, whoever of them you are, in the ratings war.)

Um, 1:1 odds, 1:5 odds, 1:10 odds, nobody's going to take. There's no way they are going to make a bet that wouldn't net them any money. Basically, you read odds like for bet with odds x:y, you can make x on a bet that costs you y to make. Would you make a bet that costs 5 to have a chance to win 1 gold, thus definitely losing 4 gold to make that bet?

Not if it works like this:

When you make a bet, you keep your money, and only give it to asks if you lose.
For example, if the odds are 5-1, and you bet 10g, asks gets the money if you lose, but if you win you get 50g (as well as the original 10g, since you never actually payed that). This way, if the odds are 1-5 or 1-10, then the gambler would make 20%, or 10%, of their initial bet, on top of the money they actually made the bet with, while asks would get the full money from them if he won.
I personally think this is a simple, low maths way of doing things, but I can see how some might disagree. :P

Asks, do I still owe you a cookie? If I do, here it is!

I bet 100 gold that M0rtimer's SerV3 wins the upcoming battle against knucklekraken's Roy in RW I.
I'd bet 1000, but I am fearfully aware of Roy's awesomeness.

I should get good odds :D

It's tempting to send my story to you, Shares, and just see what you think... but I kind of think that would be cheating.

It would be - if I showed it to M0rt
Nope, I may help M0rt a little language-wise, but the story is his (and yours) to tell, and I am no judge. Your fate rests firmly in Vid20's and his team's hands.

It was fun reading SerV3's fight, but I am a perfectionist and it took me waaay to long. I doubt I will be able to do that again.

Anyway, if you sent me your text, I would also have to retract my bet on SerV3 here, since I would have too much background information and would be cheating Asks if I actually knew who was going to win.
RW I is getting interesting now that the losers (like me  ) have been culled or defeated. I enjoyed the texts of all writers still in the game.
