SPOILERS:Yup, it's my turn to start a game ^^

Image
"A long time ago, a nameless group of prisoners was being transported from the city of Bloodlane to unknown destination. Slaves of different races, goblins, humans, orcs and kobolds were often sold for a high price in the savage lands. But this group in particular, in appearance meaningless, would start a chain of events that, with the right amount of time, was going the change the destiny of Bloodlane and it's habitants..."

"While they were on the road, the prisoners suddenly woke up in the middle of night, hearing sounds of metal against metal and screams of battle. Their cell got loose and started gaining more and more momentum, until it crashed against something hard, exploding in a cloud of broken wood. Many died in the crash, but a few found themselves falling down a pit in the darkness.

Then... only silence..."

INTRODUCTION
Well hello, I'm Arles and I'll be in charge of this new forum game. I would like to thank in advance to every GM of this sub-forum, and I can't say I haven't been inspired in their narrations and dungeon making for this game. Specially LoneStarNorth and EvilCoatrack.
The game will be for six players, although one or two more might be added. Time will tell.

CHARACTER CREATION
Every character in the game will have:
HP: Hit points. Get to 0 and you die.
Attack: How much damage you deal.
Defense: How many points of Attack you prevent from reaching your HP.

Gender: You may be male or female.

Race: You can choose from 4 races. There can't be more than 2 players of the same race.

Image

**Goblin:
Hp:4
At:1
Df:2

**Human:
Hp:5
At:1
Df:1

**Orc:
Hp:5
At:2
Df:0

**Kobold:
Hp:4
At:2
Df:1

Hair: Please choose your hair stile and color. You can always choose "bald".
Image

Name: Please choose a name. You are free to go with wathever you want.

Color: This will help me find your posts when you are declaring your actions. No white, black, grey, yellow or light green (those are hard to read).

ACTIONS:
Every turn you can perform an "action", "move" and/or perform a "free action".

Action: Attack, interact with the environment in any way, talk to NPCs. You can also "Move" as an action. Attacking ends your turn.
Move: Move from one room to another or in the same room if you don't have a clear road to where you want to go. If you move into an unexplored room, you can't move anymore.
Free Action: Talking to another player, picking ONE item from a chest or a fallen enemy, Giving ONE item to another player.

OBJECTIVES
*You were a slave, and now you are a fugitive. You don't know why you were freed or who did it, but it doesn't really matter... for now. Find a way out of this place asap, because otherwise you won't be actually free.
*Role Playing is encouraged. I will try to add your conversations to the updates. Also, good descriptions of actions might, in some cases, give bonuses (or penalties).

HOW TO JOIN
I will take requests until Monday 20:00 PM GTM -3. Then I will do a random roll to decide who will play ^^

OTHER STUFF
*Please post in spoiler tags if you are not actually playing.
*I will update 4-6 times per week. Keep that in mind please. If a character is missing an action, he might just stall for a turn doing nothing.
*I might add new rules if I find it necessary. But what we have now should cover almost everything.
*If you have any questions, just ask away.
*Wednesdays and Fridays might be either skip days or very late update days because I have to go to kendo practice. It will depend on how tired I am after practice, really.

Balence issues between the races:

SPOILERS:Goblin is almost always superior to human, unless you have a hidden benefit to humans. The goblin has 1 more def than the human, but the human only has 1 more hp than the goblin. The human is much more likely to die sooner. As a result the human should have more hp to balance it, but not too much more.

A Kobold is almost always supeior to an orc for the same reason.

There are 2 ways to stay alive: keep your hp above 0 by either having enough hp or reducing the dam via def, or the second way to stay alive is to kill what is killing you faster than it kills you. In the first case, a change from 1 hp to 1 def is easily comparable, with the def winning most of the time because it acts on every hit (or at least once a turn).

Orcs are betting on the second method. The orc will likely die fast.

Edit: To balence the races, I'd say each ought to be equal when it comes to hp + def + def. That counts a second swing effect to te def. Def and Atk can still be traded 1 for 1 (since it is 2 different ways to say alive, playstyle wise). So keeping goblins at 4, 1, 2 (hp, atk, def) would make humans 7, 1, 1. The balence number is 8. An Orc would then be 8, 2, 0, and a kobold 6, 2, 1.

Edit: The problem now is you would always choose a kobold over a human, since you trade 1 hp for 1 atk. If we change the balence formula for hp and def ONLY to hp + def + def +atk, based on the goblin we get 9. That would make humans 8,1,1. Orc 9,2,0. Kobolds 7,2,1. This still has the same problem of always choosing a kobold over a human.

Lets try another formula: hp + (3xdef). Based on the goblin we get 10. goblins 4,1,2. humans 9,1,1. Orcs 10,2,0. Kobolds 7,2,1. It is late... and I'm not sure if there is an obvious race choice (a flaw) in these last group of numbers.

Edit: On the other hand, if the GM expects equipment to normalize atk and def in some mid-range anyway, then the original system probably works best, otherwise hp becomes king.

I'd like to play, this looks kinda cool.

Do we wait until/if we're picked to decide what our name and race and stuff are?

I would like to play!
:D

Current list of prospective players:
  1. SuperVaderMan
  2. Taberah
  3. Serne
  4. SharesLoot
This list will be huge by Monday. To heighten the chances of those who really want in and would invest some effort in the game, you could give the prospective players an assignment (write a character background, a poem, a story etc., draw fanart based on what you have shown us so far...) and only make a random roll for those who submitted something acceptable (not completely stolen or terrible). Just an idea.

SPOILERS:I would love to play.. but as I just got into ECR's second game I'm going to leave this one for other players. Sharing is caring.

As for the balance issue that Through the Well was bringing up.. I can see what he's saying.. but maybe Orcs and Humans are better at using more weapons, like for example can use two handed weapons better then the smaller classes. That could balance it out? Anyway, really it doesn't matter because most of us play these games for story, not to minmax.

^It's true. Some of us may choose a more difficult race simply for the challenge.

OK, I've got to give this a try!

If selected, I'm thinking human, hair style #2, color: Blood Red (#BF0000; RGB 191, 0, 0)
His name will be my namesake, "Warlock".
Image
SPOILERS:For this mock-up figure, I used 3 reds RGB 255,0,0; RGB 191,0,0; and RGB 128,0,0.

(I don't know if there is magic in this game, but if there is and I'm choosen, Warlock will definitely be pursuing that path.)

Warlock's hair isn't naturally red. He just like using blood as a conditioner. Yeah, he's kinda crazy like that.
