SPOILERS:i didn't knew that so much more goblins are not in the camp at the moment than i thought. Looks to me like it is left nearly unprotected now and i don't know whom to pull out, since it takes at least 5 to build the trap. I thought at least some of the stronger npc fighters are back there. Now with 1 bodyguard and another strong one gone too, i am not so shure about the plan anymore. Thats sad since i already put so much effort into it.

Then how about this more minimalistic try. Jacon wrote we got 21 and 12 are requiered to run it. Players do not count. Since Plays-with-fire and Carves are Player chars, i did not count them in. This means, i can only take 9 goblins out, right? I would take out 9 plus Ties, so its one more than possible, but i would send him back right after the trap is done. If this isn't working, i would leave 1 archer back at the camp and use only 2 for the fight at the trap:

Trap builders and fighters (7/6):
0 Plays-With-Fire (Player char)
1 Coats
1 Ties-rope (goes home after building the trap)
2 the katana sisters
1 Goblin guardian
3/2 archer goblins (one less if we go below the requiered maintenance number)

on tour with Carves (2):
2 archer goblins

I hope this is ok now and the numbers are not mixed up even worse.

SPOILERS:I'm pretty sure Jacon does count Smells, Walks and Rocks (the three NPC goblins who went with us) into the 21. I dunno if you took that into your calcualtion, Nerre, but currenty I don't really have the time to check it, sorry. Just thought I'd mention it, in case you didn't take it into account.

We can't expect them to just die because of the trap. maybe none or only one of them falls in. We need at last 3-4 good melees. :(

He's searching turns up a small puuch hidden in a jar. It contains 5 gold. otherwise he finds nothing worthwhile.
Spaz continues to read and finally manages to learn a new spell. Ray of weakness.
Leon opens the door and takes a deep breath of fresh air.

Scouts enters A5. While taking a moment to get a breath you hear something snapping in the trees above but when you look up you see nothing

Teldaac takes a deep breath and shouts out from behind the corner.

"Hey there! We know you have experienced some unexpected problems down the other tunnel, and we were wondering if that change in your situation caused a change in your attitude towards waging war as well. If you are willing to talk, send one of you, unarmed, down this tunnel, and maybe there will be no need for any more bloodshed between orcs and rats, now that you face a possibly much bigger danger."

There's silence from the rats. You hear some whispers but nothing else. Finally you hear a voice.
" Return our dead and the flamethrower and well talk....Otherwise if you orcs try anything well fight you to the last man....
"Well...Shit...That is far too many of them for us to take care of by ourselves... "We need to send someone to tell torg we need more people in here, and maybe some other area of effect things. We have the flamer, but, more will always help."
" little orc silly...Torg right here.... Torg says from where he stands.

"ok, then let's forget about the fake traps. Was just an idea. I hope they think we are just some stupid animal like beast like most adventurers do, so they won't expect us to do something as tactical as building a trap and an ambush. I think we should just get outside of our warcamp a bit, not to build the trap right at their camp."
Carves says to the five archers and Ties.
" Uh, Well wherever you want and we will start building.... Give us a little more time and i'll see about adding spikes. That should do some damage...." Ties says.
The group enters H7.

Did we do anything to the dead? I don't remember any more mutilating, but maybe the orcs did something Jacon didn't write down... In any case that shouldn't be a problem, I have no interest in their corpses - except for the glands, which I already took... :oops: Let's hope they don't get too p.o. about this - but they'd have to retrieve it for themselves. There is no way I busy the warriors with transporing bodies while walking into - most likely - an ambush.

Tel'daac will call over to the rats again: "All right, returning your flame thrower sounds reasonabls, just give us some time to fetch it. But you'll have to retrieve your dead yourself. There are just too many of them for us to carry, and you can't really expect us that stupid or trusting that we turn all our attention to them while you are still alive most likely filled with a hunger for revenge. No offense, but some of you are bound to be hard-pressed to keep passive when they witness their fallen comrades being brought in by the orcs. If we can settle on a truce, you will be able to get to them without fear of getting hurt, that much I can promise. Do we have a deal?"

If the rats agree to this, Tel'daac sends an ESP message to Temper to have Smells and Walks empty/sabotage the flame thrower (which ever is doable, see below), and then bring it into the tunnel, then back out again leaving it behind. Tel'daac will stay somewhere in the tunnel, hidden and wait for them to pick it up. When/if the single rat to do the talking turns up - and really nobody else is around, she'll reveal herself, too, in an unfrightening manner.
On the flamethrower: Can it be put out of order quickly? Not ruin it forever, but unstick the line, or something, so they can't use it right away after returning it? If so: do it.
If not: let's just spill every last drop of fuel in it onto the ground, preferably somewhere the rats, but not we would have to cross, in case they come after us. (They didn't say anything about it's working condition or the fuel, after all. :evilgrin: )

If the rats don't agree, if we don't bring their dead, then Tel'daac will abandon her attempt at diplomacy for now, thinking hard of what to do next, and stay hidden and wait a bit, to see what the rats will do now.

SPOILERS:I seriously hope the orcs will go along, if the rats are willing to talk. This is turning out to be a much to costly war for both sides, anyway. It would really bite if the rats were starting to see reason and the orcs insist on messing things up. :(

"Where i want? Well, you are the trap specialist. I only have a few criterias: It should be a open patch of gras, maybe a clearing, and there have to be dense bushes behind it into the direction in which our warcamp is, So our fighters have something to hide. And i wouldn't mind some high tress around there, which maybe some of the archers could climb. And i just got another idea, since there are at least two of them. How about you build two not that large traps, right behind each other? That way maybe the second adventurer would jump over the first one when it gives in. With one large trap we will most likly one catch one of them. Just leave a wall of earth between them, maybe one foot in width. Can you work with that? "
"Coats, do you think this is far enough, or should we move to H8? Thats the area they are most likely to pass, but it would cost us time to build the trap."

If Coats agrees that this is far enough, he tells Tries and the others to start working on the trap after Tries finds a good spot. Carves and two of his archers will head to H7 then and try to spot the adventurers again. The other tree archers will stick with Coats, Tries, Plays and all other melees who went with them, helping to build the trap, and trying to find a tree to climb from which they would have a good field of view to shot at the area around the trap.
