2-2-06 ; broken animation?

Postby damp_dave on Thu Feb 02, 2006 12:20 pm

For today's SSDD installment, all I see is an empty gray frame in the area where the comic usually is. It's a Flash animation of some kind, and when I tell it to play (right-click and select 'Play' from the menu) I get about 0.5 seconds of a green T-Rex-ish looking thing moving across the gray frame. Then the green thing disappears and it's just the frame again.

Flash bug? Wrong version? Error in the file? Don't know... Figured Alan'd want to know.

It works for me, i have Firefox and the not-quite-latest version of Flash (because it keeps nagging me to upadate but that makes porn download more slowly). I got a question though, are the other states that remained red still "The united states" or have they just become small autonomous areas too, by the time of the CAS/Texan wars?

I ballsed up the HTML before. Try a hard refresh.

Yes the red areas including the other states you can't see are still America ... sort of.

Now, if the CAS managed to summon Godzilla, does this mean that they are open for favourable deals with Tokyo for getting him off their back? =P

No joy. :(

Flash 7, Firefox, NT. Also tried in IE, and get the same results. Must be my version of Flash, I guess.

It was made in Flash 8 but exported as Flash 6 so it should work.

Aw, man - my state has the Fundies right on the border!

Though I suppose that's better than the alternative..

Well I've tried dumping the cache and doing a hard refresh, still a no-go on the animation. I can't remember having this much trouble with flash using IE6 before. eh, perhaps I don't have a bumpy enough brain.

Humm. I might keep to using MX to make these things for now.

That's got it! Thanks, Al. Good to know what is going to happen to my country in the next few decades...

Hmm, I wonder if I can go to work for Maytec? If they're going to be running things around here.... ;)
