I always need a random thread.

Today's random thing is HOLY SHIT THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE BAND!

Random thought of the day: I'm building a whole bunch of new stuff for WordOwl; so huge and new it will actually end up being a total rewrite of parts of WordOwl and a severe reorganisation of other parts.

And yet I find myself looking through the code and finding that despite it needs to be rewritten, there's still maybe 50% that can be salvaged untouched.

Yet another revelation brought on by todays favourite band: Iron Maiden. (Of course they were my favourite band yesterday too. Today's other favourite is Dragon Force.)

So I come into the office today and the mobile shredding truck was outside, shredding old files that we have to maintain for so many years. The guy dumps the boxes of file into a large rolling trash can, same type you see so many towns use. Out to the truck where a section slides out and he sets the thing under this area. The machine sucks the whole can up and in a moment the entire truck shakes and makes the sound that you would expect a truck-sized shredder to make, then you see the empty can get set back down.

Why do I mention this, thanks to DJ's blog, all I could think is... this thing would make a great way to get rid of left over zombies...

I really read too much crap on-line...

While we're talking about favorite bands, I should turn you guys on to Cockpit, whom I'll be working with this year on an as-yet secret project. They've been a lot of fun to work with so far.

honestly Adam, i think if you are going to go video with i think you would be better off doing it animated. i just don't think that a live action movie would suit the action and the effects would be too expensive, though if you get a harness with those wings animatronic, can i have a pair?

i don't think that they would be as unwieldy as the horns that Tim had to ware in Legend, and wings are more fun.

and tell your wife she needs to log on and voice her thoughts on this stuff, she can't stay off the web forever.... 8Þ

besides i know she could get more than a buck for some of her work... but she could help with the wall paper for a buck.

WordOwl (as per my signature) is a comic search engine I designed and maintain, and covers all the strips so far of Locus. So it's not entirely random posting; there is a relevance to my mention of it, since it will potentially have benefits for Locus too (for a start it powers the Wiki I mentioned elsewhere)

You can search it here if you want.

Whoa.

Did you guys know that Fission Chicken has his own website? That's so cool.

I loved this comic back in the 80s (90s? It's been awhile). It was the only "funny animal" comic I enjoyed reading. It's full of goofy little things in every panel. And the Vortoxians always cracked me up. I loved their dialogue with the chuckles and sound effects in parentheses.

Back when everyone was trying to copy everyone else (which is pretty much how comics have always been, I suppose), Fission Chicken came on the scene and distributed a very singular brand of weirdness.

You know, I don't own much Kiss merch. Everything I do own has been given to me as a gift, but I prefer Daffy Duck stuff, to be honest.

I do have that cologne--my wife bought it for me. She doesn't like the way it smells, though, so I never use it.

Making a comic is crazy-hard. Especially when you can't draw, like I can't.

So I figured I'd play around in computer code instead. Preview of my first drawn-in-PHP-only strip: Stupid Ninja #1

The difference between you and me, Adam, is that you can draw! Let me loose with a pencil and I'm danger to anyone with appreciation for art!

Now, maths... maths I can do... I'm in it for the numbers, man!

Math is indeed awesome. Having a little trouble convincing my son of that fact lately--he's having trouble in his calculus class.

Oh, hey...check this out:

My wife sent me this link to an interesting pair of boots.

When you see that picture, it should be crystal clear why Locus chooses to wear the boots she has on. :D

I saw them with The Bomboras & The Amazing Royal Crowns (my fave local band of all time) @ Lupo's in Providence, RI in '98.
It was one of the best shows I ever went to.

“This is rock & roll the way it never really was on the radio, but the way you always dreamed it could be — drooling horrorama lyrics, great cheesoid guitar riffs, postlobotomy drum-bashing and a singer for whom inhibition is the dirtiest ten-letter word of all. Slurp it up, sleaze fans.” - Kurt Loder
