Decent Proposal (Wk of 12/3/12)

A new running arc title! Been a while. :D If Sherry takes up on Chuck's proposal, this would indeed be the first big change in OT since Miriam and John moved out. I wonder if this arc will be as long as the previous one, and its title really means what I think it means... :rootbeer:

I am conceding defeat. The couple I've always hoped would be "the' Couple in this strip will never be. :(

Congratulations, Chuck and Sherry. :rootbeer:

I wouldn't be too quick to reach that conclusion. They haven't gone through with it yet.

...Martha still thinks Miriam and Sherry used to date, doesn't she?

Unless something has happened to lead her to believe otherwise, yes.

Wow! This dialogue between Clayton and Miriam: I don't know what to make of it. If only someone making the first comment of 2013 would shed some light on it!! :-?

I suppose I could tell you what I think it means, but then you'd have no reason to read the comic strip.

I guess I just want to know what the devil's side of Clayton's conscience dresses like. But that's okay - Miriam has shed light upon it however dimly I am able to see it.

Then, too, isn't some sort of Miriam/Clayton chemistry fairly bubbling a bit this week? I'm also wondering this: do they really have the "bubblies" for each other or am I reading too much into my reading of their being seemingly kindred spirits over spirits?

It (she?) wears a wedding dress—or was that not spelled out clearly enough?

I think it's been pretty well-established that there has been some chemistry between the two of them for quite some time. Whether that will ever translate into anything, you'll just have to wait and see.

I guess I'm having trouble conceptualizing the metaphor; that's all. Let's see - the devil's side wears a wedding dress ---- hmmmm? Oh, I'm really hopeless. Please ignore me completely. Don't mind me at all. I'm just hanging around, limping as does the proverbial wet noodle. I'm just noodling around. Clayton and Miriam translate into something someday? I know I won't live that long. You probably will though. Thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule to respond to the diddledop! I now feel that I am somebody!

(From the 2/4 comic) That kind of looks like John with a beer bottle sitting beside Miriam, but upon second glance, I can see it isn't. John's nose is bigger. And is that them sitting inside of Steven's place? I'm surprised there's enough room there. I'm assuming John's still at Miriam's working right now, or the poor boy would be feeling a tad squeezed out...

The spiky-haired lad seated next to Miriam is indeed Not John.

They are inside of Steven's place. How big does an apartment have to be for a handful of people to stand around and drink beer in it?

I assume you mean “Sherry’s”. I have the feeling we’ll see where John is soon. Like tomorrow. (Just a feeling I have, of course)

Oh, so that's what Sherry's fourth-wall-breaking is about :P

Actually, I think this might be the first blatant fourth wall break in the series...

(From the 2/11/13 comic, Number 2001) I'll write it here and now: If this isn't a future Married Couple conversation between these two, then they'll never be one with these guys!

It’s certainly the most blatant… I think there’s been some subtler ones somewhere along the line, but after 2000 strips my memory isn’t up to the challenge of searching them out.

What’s funny about that is, you could be right about that either way.

Huh?

I just don't have a clue.

I mean #2,000 - 4th panel. Huh?

Where do we go from there - here? Are we actually getting closer to out there?

It's a shame that James and Ari have to break up. James is such a great sport about things.
