09-11-06 - Politically charged!

If parody has a name, it must be... Zortic! ('cause, let's face it, what's Mel Brooks done lately?)

Wow. Anyone else spot the [obvious] political satire?

It is a bit of a departure for me, but I've tackled most other types of parody so I figured I political satire was a natural addition.

Since it is a bit of a departure, I'd love to hear some feedback.

*two Iranians look at the strip from a Terran Internet cafe*

"You suppose this storyline applies to us?"

"From our 'Great Leader' saying he'd sacrifice half of us to wipe out the Zionists, I dount it."

"That stuff about the Twelfth Iman coming back and bringing us to glory? Man, I sometimes wonder what others think of us?"

"Don't ask the Americans. Judging from the news websites, their leaders seem to do little but jockey for power, and their public is getting so ill of it they're not paying attention to any news."

Too true!

Well, from Zortic's monologuing about the errors of the Genie's ways, it sounds like it relates to the NSA phone monitoring program on the surface (cause it's so recent) but it's not the only thing to happen in US history in the interest of "protecting freedoms". Go poking around for a "55-2 Garden Plot" to see what I mean. I think it was well executed. The only thing that would have drove the point more home was if the genies were using the mind control lens (reading-rewriting thoughts that were "dangerous") but then they'd pull a Zoie on any opposition. All in all, I enjoyed it. :)

On a side note, I find it hillarious that it seems Zortic caused a logic/belief aneurism in the genie. Looking forward to how this turns out!

At the last panel, you forgot to add the famous "She's dead, Jim" line.

Too bad this don't happen with a lot of politicians out there...
