Heh, nice pic Shive, as always.

I am guessing with Warcraft your a Tauren fan?

Oh and Dan, assuming you are not already familiar with this comic, you woudl probably like the fiiiiiine species of humanoid bovine in the comic Las Lindas. This comic seems right up your ally.

Indeed, that's quality work as usual. Makes me want to practice drawing to get my art to that level... I just wish I could find the time.

Funny, that is the way I have always seen it. Nice work with it. But is it to be part of that 2nd comic you are thinking about?

And at the end of the labyrinth . . .

Very well done DS.
I would like to imagine my own drawings would become so well done after practice, but between my lack of patience and my fat irish fingers, I think I'm doomed to view great artisans, never to be one. :grumble:

Drawing, that is.

A minotaur was the subject of a recent storyline at Scary Go Round

On another note, that gets me curious as to what you think about the minotaur in Oblivion, created by Bethesda. I'm going to just link it, as it's a pretty good-sized pic...

Holy CRAP that's good graphics! That minotaur's design isn't the sort I like, but MAN those trees look awesome! It's times like these that I curse that I fall just short of the minimum system requirements for Oblivion. System tests show that my video card, while TECHNICALLY beefy enough in all the little performance sub-charts, isn't compatable for reasons that baffle me.

It's very odd to me; in the system test's video card section, there's a red "FAIL" at the top for overall, but all the performance bars below that for the card pass with flying colors. Makes it seem like the incombatability isn't so much a matter of what the card's capable of but the game being coded to favor certain cards (for purely technical reasons, I'm sure :roll: )

Testing Site wrote: Video Card Features - Minimum attributes of your Video Card Video RAM: Required - 128 MB , You have - 128.0 MB
Video Card 3D Acceleration: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 2.0
Pixel Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 2.0

Oh yeah; totally incompatable.

Believe me, if I wasn't so busy with my semester, I'd already have Oblivion and be playing it, heh. What videocard do you have? According to their main site, these are the currently supported chipsets:

* ATI X1900 series
* ATI X1800 series
* ATI X1600 series
* ATI X1300 series
* ATI X850 series
* ATI x800 series
* ATI x700 series
* ATI x600 series
* ATI Radeon 9800 series
* ATI Radeon 9700 series
* ATI Radeon 9600 series
* ATI Radeon 9500 series
* NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series
* NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series
* NVIDIA GeForce 6600 series
* NVIDIA GeForce 6200 series
* NVIDIA GeForce FX series

ATI RADEON Xpress 200 Series. It makes me wonder if supported means "it'll only work with these" or "we'll only help with these" ^^;

Okay, a question. Did you try to install Oblivion anyway to see if it would run, or did you not bother getting it yet?

Didn't bother

Hmm. What are the rest of the stats of your system then? If it's not too far under, I think you might be able to run it anyway, though probably not too well.

My other stats meet the minimum; I don't want to try unless I know it's going to work, though, as I've had that "buy a computer product and get home to find it doesn't work" bit happen to me before, and when you factor in time to shop, elevated hopes, etc, I'd rather just not deal with it for what amount to a toy (a very cool high-tech toy, but a toy nonetheless).

Now if they had a legal demo I could try out via download prior to buying, I'd be all for that. I didn't see one at their site, however, and I avoid pirated software and the like as though they were the plague (not for holier-than-thou moral reasons; I'm just not comfortable with them, I worry about viruses, and again, it's a lot of headaches for something that's non-essential).

I'd say it'd be iffy at best right now. And unfortunately, I doubt they'll provide a demo for it, since that would require a lot of work for them. There are two options I see...

1) borrow it from a friend if you have any that own the game, just to install and test things out.
2) contact bethesda or post on their forums to see if anyone has tried it with that card.

That's Oblivion?...
.... whoa.
I wonder what kind of game it is?

It's a single player sandbox-style RPG. You can do anything you want to, within the bounds of the game.

Wow. :o

Some of the other screenshots aren't quite as impressive...lacks of shadows and hard edges. Or, repeating patterns, heh. Pretty impressive still.

Hm, I have the hardware - what's the most graphically advanced game available for Mac OS X, preferably with a demo?

I'm not up-to-date on Mac games... but I do know that Doom 3 was ported over to Mac. Other than that, I have no idea.
